The Scottish Parliament made some important changes to its First Minister’s Questions procedure earlier this year.

Happy to see our paper with @annevanbavel.bsky.social on the negative consequences of political harassment towards MPs on their staff out in Parliamentary Affairs!

Almost all staffers witness harassment towards MPs which discourages them from politics … (1/3)

Politico reports that yesterday the Speaker chose an Urgent Question about English whiskey over one about AI risks. Which is more urgent for government to respond to? 🥃🤖 This is an interesting illustration of why there should be more clarity on how decisions about the “urgency” of UQs are made. 🧵

@ruxandrasrbn.bsky.socialSep 16, 2026, 9:51 AMReposted by @psa-parliaments.bsky.social

Some UQs are “urgent” and need a quick response, but some are just topical and need to be discussed before the next Departmental
Questions session, so having more clarity on the criteria for urgency would be helpful, especially given the growth in UQs. 👇🏻
