Two years since the 1st submission, our work on limb heterochrony is finally out! ππ @cellcellpress.bsky.social
Delayed hindlimb dev vs forelimb is a widely conserved trait in mammals. We show that maternal O2 regulates this phenotype ππ» shorturl.at/MGrwl
Happy to share results of the @bat1kgenomes.bsky.social phase 1, providing reference genomes covering 21 bat families. New insights into bat phylogeny, ancestral genome reconstruction, European origin & ancestral echolocation. Great work by a team of 100+ colleagues www.nature.com/articles/s41...
π New preprint ! π For Hippo pathway aficionados. We generated a CRISPR/Cas9 mediated single-copy endogenous Yap1-mGreenLantern fusion protein in medaka to follow Yap1 dynamics in vivo, through embryogenesis and beyond. And it is such a beautiful line ! π§΅
Our latest paper on building models of cell fate decisions -with David Rand, Marine Fontaine & @joadelas.bsky.social- combines developmental biology, dynamical systems theory and bioinformatics. I wrote a short piece to summarise it & explain ideas behind the approach
Very proud of the team, led by @baukjeje.bsky.social & @fmikus.bsky.social
To all of you doing #Expansion #Microscopy #UExM
Try Concanavalin A.
Its cheap, easy to use & labels the #nuclear #Envelope

Beautiful work πππ Really happy to see this out after talking to Konrad last year! Huge congratulations to all authors!
How is proliferation modulated in regeneration for tissues to reach their right size? We found that, in zebrafish scales, proliferation is shut down by a moving front of osteoblast maturation. The front's dynamics scale with tissue size, ensuring proper osteoblast amplification. tinyurl.com/5e45twx3
First preprint from the lab, led by @gabbov.bsky.social!
We identify a metabolic bottleneck that helps set the pace of human development: low levels of the redox enzyme GPD1L limit NADH recycling. Boosting GPD1L mimics mouse cells and accelerates development!
Come be my colleague here in Ithaca! We're looking for a colleague doing cool science in the realm of genome editing, structural biology, or pharmacology. Or all of the above.
I am excited to announce that I will start the Brain Origins Lab at the Crick in March 2027! Using acoels as a model system, the lab will study how animal brains evolve, and how innovations in brain organisation enable new computational abilities and the evolution of complex behaviour.
I will be hiring at all levels soon - Iβm looking for systems neuroscientists, molecular biologists, genomics experts, physicists, and more. If youβre interested in distributed computation, brain evolution, or the behaviour of marine invertebrates, get in touch!
3 weeks left to apply!
Are you an Undergrad/MSc student? Interested in bioinformatics, single cell analyses, evolution, and developmental biology? Looking for a potential research project?
We are offering one fellowship for such an intership at CRG!
Apply at: www.crg.eu/en/content/t...
RT/share!
Very happy to share my postdoc paper is out now in @natcellbio.nature.com titled "Tissue flow acts as a guidance cue for immune cell polarization and directional migration". If you love imaging and immune cells, this is for you! #microscopymonday

And thatβs a wrap! We hope everyone had as enjoyable and productive a time at ISFB XVI as we did. Thanks for attending, and weβll see you again in Sant Feliu in 2029!
π¨ New preprint alert! π¨
Choanoflagellates reorganize their global cytoskeletal architecture within seconds to explore confined microspaces. This is the main PhD work of the amazing @maitefreired.bsky.social www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Do you work with microscopy images and segment to quantify or track? Do you study cell biology? development? Gather round! Let me tell you about FOCUS-3D, a segmentation algorithm that is fast, accurate and can be used on any model. We used it here to study zebrafish development. π§ͺ (thread)
