When using webr/shinylive, all R code is put into the browser. This scales horizontally. However, it also exposes all R code. If you have no R code to keep secret, R data base calls, or centralized R server knowledge... then webr + react is a great solution! (If yes to any, I'd use shinyreact)

๐Ÿ“ฆ Introducing shinyreact for R & Python

Write your UI natively in React. Shrink your Shiny server to data-only logic. Agent Skills write the React for you.

This is the start! Tell us what you build and what breaks.

Shiny for Python 1.8 is out! ๐ŸŽ‰ Test your app's server logic without a browser ๐Ÿช„

test_server() runs your app in memory: set inputs, let the reactive graph settle, assert on outputs. Plain, synchronous pytest.

Also: ui.page_html() and session.allow_reconnect().

๐ŸŽค Just presented โ€œshinyreact: Building Custom Shiny UI with Reactโ€ at posit::conf(2026)

๐Ÿค” Ever written JS or CSS inside an R string? shinyreact moves your UI to React: two hooks on the client, reactive_output() on the server.
