It is awarded by English PEN’s Writers at Risk Committee to a writer who has been persecuted for speaking out about his or her beliefs.

It is the highest number of recorded bans in a single year since PEN America began tracking book bans in 2021.

@dominicwexler.bsky.socialAustralian greens want to end military aid to Ukraine, and Shoebridge called the country “the Ukraine” several times, which is not only grammatically incorrect but also an allusion to Ukraine’s marginalised status under the SovUnion. They’re never getting my vote.
