You wouldn't consider rabbits as a species of conservation concern but the most recent review suggests there's evidence their numbers are declining. Not beloved of gardeners BUT rabbits are a reminder that we shouldnโt be complacent about a wild species. ๐

Dormice might only be tiny but they have a big appetite ๐ Their diet changes with the seasons, helping them make the most of whatever nature has to offer.
This dormouse was captured on camera by supporter Camilla Roverts, grabbing a cherry for its tea!
Once theyโre around eight weeks old, theyโre ready to head off and make their own way in the world.๐ณ

But young dormice develop rapidly under their motherโs care before becoming increasingly independent. After about four weeks, young dormice are ready to be weaned, but they often stick close to mum for another few weeks while they learn the ropes.
Squeak! ๐ Summer is the season for young dormice ๐ญ They're born tiny, pink, hairless and with their eyes closed, we call them "pinks". The dormice in this photo are a little more mature, you can tell because their soft golden coats have already started to develop.๐
Celebrate #DormouseWeek with us! ๐ญ๐ฟ
