Every single time I posted political content with no exception I got a lot of hateful/angry comments on Instagram. Yesterday I posted about the student protests in France so I was kinda expecting some insults, and… Nothing. Just 200+ nice comments. I wonder if it could be connected to this.
Day 11 of #31DaysOfGraves - Humorous
It's almost impossibly not to picture Shaun the Sheep and his flock rampaging through this historic graveyard, fully armed and clad in armour, if visitors fail to heed the warning sign on the gate outside the ruined Kildalton Chapel on the Island of Islay.

The totally stunning ceiling in the (equally stunning room) in Bishop West’s Chantry Chapel, Ely Cathedral 😍 The detail and surviving colours are amazing! West was chaplain to Henry VII and a diplomatic envoy to Henry VIII.

In Blois for the history fest and it is absurdly joyful. Massive book fair! Enormous queues for talks! Teachers, academics, publishers, podcasters, librarians, all having a fab natter about history! Making history supporting the “mouvement social”! This is the discipline that’s not worth saving?
October leaf palette. If you zoom in to the colours and details it will dial down stress a little and help you recover if there's any angst for you later today (research has shown this)🍁🍂🌾🌿
The gilt arms of Augustus, Elector of Saxony (1526-86). On the ‘Elogia’ (biographical sketches) of the Italian humanist Paolo Giovio (Basel, 1556). Augustus had extensive museum collections, including the famous mechanical galleon now in the British Museum. @theulspeccoll.bsky.social SSS.33.21.
In Canto 18 of his Inferno, Dante puts a lot of people from Bologna in Hell, and mentions their local word for 'yes': sipa. Words for 'yes' matter to Dante; he's the first on record to recognise sì, òc and oïl as alternatives in Romance – hence the lenga d'òc (Occitan) and langues d'oïl in France.
The late 12th Century Galilee Chapel at Durham Cathedral, dominated by the shrine of St Bede. The large collection of medieval and continental glass in this chapel was set here in the 1960s. It includes glass from Ackworth Grange, Warwick Priory and several York churches.
Outrageous beauty for #StainedGlassOnSunday from the Visitation window by Margaret Rope, c. 1910, an angel plays while the sheep graze: with their lambs, echoing the Lamb of God in Mary's womb, surrounded by Marian flowers - in Shrewsbury Cathedral RC, #Shropshire #ArtsandCrafts
Opinions vary as to whether these corbels at Tewkesbury Abbey depict either Adam and Eve or the founders of the Abbey Robert Fitzhamon and his wife.
Whichever is correct, I particularly like the positioning of their arms and hands, it looks so natural.
