Today we travelled to Plymouth to visit Nudge Community Builders & plan for an exciting new phase of our campaign. Hannah from @nudgecommunity.bsky.social took us to Union Street, where local people are slowly and determinedly bringing derelict buildings back to life - and into community ownership.

We’ve never felt so inspired at a bus stop. 🚏 At the Community Power Rally, brilliant speakers addressed a crowd of Labour Party Conference attendees and community groups from our double-decker bus. Each speaker made the case for how deeper community power could turn our country around. 🧵1/2

In the new @uclpolicylab.bsky.social essay collection, our campaign leader Charlotte Hollins explains how community-owned Fordhall Farm brings many social and environmental benefits to local people, many of which wouldn't be possible under conventional structures.

Once a year, politicians leave Westminster for party conference. Power gets on the train to Liverpool but never leaves the conference centre. Communities need power in their hands all year round. Don't take your foot off the gas, Andy. The next stop for devolution: community power. 🧵1/2

As politicians chat in the Labour Party Conference rooms far from the communities they serve, we brought the two worlds closer together through the Community Power Bus. 🚌 Community spaces are essential infrastructure, not optional extras. The next stop for devolution has got to be community power.

One year of touring the Museum of Broken Dreams around the UK!

The exhibition tells the story of community-led projects that could have transformed Britain – but failed because the power to decide whether their vision materialised lay elsewhere. 💔

3 in 5 people say it’s important to be able to influence decisions affecting their local area.

But most of us have no say over what happens in our places.
