Thank you, @tobyvogel.bsky.social!
@bernd-parusel.bsky.social is always worth reading if you're interested in migration and asylum, here about the EU's new return regulation
The new deportation ("return") regulation has been adopted today by the Council. Bernd Parusel @bernd-parusel.bsky.social from @sieps.bsky.social has written an article on it on the Forced Migration Studies Blog @fluchtforschung.bsky.social. Must-read!
Idag skriver jag på SvD Debatt om den nya EU-förordningen om återvändande och den kontroversiella idén att skapa ”återvändandehubbar” i tredje land. 👇

I think it’s a mix of both.
Migration is generally not that big an issue in Sweden right now. Immigration and asylum numbers are very low. When it’s still discussed, it’s often from the perspective that the hardline approach of the current government might have gone to far. No party (except SD) wanted to focus on the topic.
Maybe this could be a lesson also for other countries.
The migration topic was not entirely absent from electoral campaigning, but debates circled much around the economy, jobs, the education system, health care, climate change, and other issues. And the Sweden Democrats (SD) are backing.
The result of the Swedish election yesterday is still somewhat inconclusive, but one thing seems already pretty clear: Once migration is not the dominating topic every party obsesses about, far-right parties stop making gains.
Hur det känns när man ser på opinionsmätningarna.

Very good comment on the #Ceuta crisis. 👇
I think he has a point here:
