Just up on fragmentarium.ms : 68 spectacular fragments from Augsburg and 5 from Ottobeuren!

Sakramentar (Fragment), Augsburg, Universitätsbibliothek Augsburg, Cod.I.2.4.1 (https://fragmentarium.ms/overview/F-gzvv): The recto of the prior leaf of a bifolium, with a badass Deus monogram, weaturing a bird perched on the S, followed by qui hodie corda fidelium sancti spiritus inlus-[tratione]. The Fidelium gets properly psychedelic. Ninth century from Lorsch Abbey, a little faded, but still spry for 1100-something years old.

Not keen on advertising auctions, but couldn't resist this one. Assorted bindings for a set of three volumes in modern Greek (Venice 1819). Nice example of manuscript recycling in the 19th century, a topic on which I have been working lately... (but shouldn't mention it here)

I have questions about the audience for this book. Has anybody seen it? Any sign of a library ordering it? It looks from the TOC like it would be best suited to be a textbook, but I can't imagine any individual, must less a student, would buy it at this price. www.arc-humanities.org/978180270282...

This is the oldest sample of Hebrew text with European musical notation. It's an autograph manuscript of Obadiah the Proselyte, a Norman-Italian priest who converted to Judaism in 1102. He traveled to Egypt and Syria, using his knowledge of Gregorian Chant to record Hebrew poetry. @theul.bsky.social

Torn brown paper manuscript with about 20 red-ruled lines with sporadic musical notes and Hebrew text. Antiphonary, Septuagesima Sunday, chants at the end of Lauds (Simile est regnum caelorum cantusindex.org/id/004955) and for prime (Conventione cantusindex.org/id/001915). Nice title pages too. #fragmentology

Read: Open Access, Interoperability, or AI scrapers and agents: we only get two, at most. In other news, e-codices is currently suffering service interruptions from high-volume traffic. We are working to resolve the issues.

This is one of 26 leaves of fragments of a 10th century Gregorian sacramentary, removed between 1773-1790 from the original binding of another manuscript, the Winton Domesday, where they formed the packing of the boards.

Seek refuge in McBride, the Hall of Mammals. And make sure to get a good diorama in the background. Blame it on the football.

Patchwork of waste on the inner plates of this MS: a 14th-c copy of Alexander of VillaDei's Doctrinale with elaborate commentary gloss, and different copies of the Pauline epistles to Timotheus, one fairly old

This article also serves as a shout-out to medievalists, who are all fragmentologists. You can't study printed horae (of any kind) using the most usual bibliographical methods bc they're quant-based. But medievalists are accustomed to working w/tatters. Good work can come of it- so reach into 16thc!

Quokkas are now back on their island, and e-codices is working again.

Wednesday, same story. Quokkas got into the wiring. 0730z is again our estimate for recovery.
