@apetrielli.bsky.socialif Knies just continues to be a complimentary scorer and Marchenko continues to be a high end line driver, the money and other assets are generally small potatoes. But, if Knies develops into an actual line driver and/or power forward, then ya they paid a big price for immediate certainty basically.

@apetrielli.bsky.socialthe appearance of checking every box is the reason to trade him though - people seemingly valued him more than his actual on-ice value. Even the power forward label is generous, in my opinion. Marchenko is a notable step up and makes them immediately better.
