It should always be https; http should redirect there. It seems like an outdated security policy, but hard to say. If they provide more details and it turns out it’s something I need to fix, you can reach me here or via email.
Thank you, that helps! I’ve tried deploying the fix, but it might not work. Unfortunately, it’s not on my side: Vocabula is using the latest encryption (TLS 1.2+ and your uni might supports only older encryption), and Firefox’s message is slightly misleading in this case. Does it work on your phone?
No problem :) If you find something you’d like to see in Manu, let me know. Also, if there is something I can do with Vocabula so they are not considered a security risk, I’ll be happy to.
I think Comma has some expander? @ponteineptique.bsky.social might know?
Cool!! Any plans to fine-tune it on data with expanded abbreviations?
Unfortunately, I think that is beyond our capabilities. Translucens relies on colour and shifting the colour space. There is non-zero chance we can remove the visible script, but we're not able to reconstruct script below. That would require different technology. :)
We recently had an exhibition where MANU was used to annotate manuscripts: colophons-prague.vercel.app/view?url=htt...
May I also ask what security problem is there with Vocabula? I'll be happy to look into it.
MANU is meant to be more like research space. Which means besides annotating, it allows you to search through annotations, customise annotation layers, share your work with colleagues and public (while storing data on it's server) and of course cleaner interface. And there is more to come.
We've added a few more tweaks to Translucens' algorithm with
@vanlinduist.bsky.social. Some parts might be damaged beyond repair, but overall I'm quite happy with the update.
Yup, removing certain cases of bleed-through turns out to be slightly more challenging than I initially thought. 😊
Next week I’ll be presenting MANU and Vocabula at DH breakfast lecture series in Graz. 😊 Any suggestions what to not to miss?
We've been busy developing Translucens with @vanlinduist.bsky.social! Soon you'll be able to try the updated interface with tool categories, and a new tool that brings faint, erased text back into view. It's also much faster now.
What if we also accounted for how bedrock shapes the way the waves spread? 🧐
I’m spending an unhealthy amount of time on this, but it’s so fun! 😅 I’ve added circles showing how the shock traveled across land and sea.
Felt my first earthquake in Iceland (M3.4), and my first thought was: It’d be fun to plot the earthquake data from Vedur API.
