In a first yesterday, the Scottish Parliament had its voting bells ringing well after many MSPs had gone home for recess, during a Member’s Business Debate. MSPs & Ministers rushed to the chamber at 6.30pm, including the First Minister, & declared that we don’t condone racism in these chambers.
One year of so-called ceasefire: more than 1400 Palestinians killed. The genocide continues but so does the resistance #StopKillingChildren #EndtheGenocide #FreePalestine
This from a party that faces both ways on oil & gas, and has consistently opposed stronger action on sustainable transport in Edinburgh.
(N.B. transport is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland)
I'll believe it when I see it...
I've taken the decision not to seek re-election in 2027 so I'll be stepping down at the end of ten amazing years representing people of Edinburgh city centre I'd like to thank everyone who has worked with me over these years and wish everyone the best of luck in the upcoming selection and election
Save the Children estimate that 1 in 5 children are affected by poverty in Scotland - an absolutely shocking figure. I was pleased to attend an event hosted by @savechildrenuk.bsky.social and @jrf-uk.bsky.social at Holyrood & chat about the role MSPs can play in tackling child poverty in Scotland.
What's Claire been up to in (and around) council this week?
🚏 Facilitated a candid and interesting meeting between council officers and @edinburghbug.bsky.social about bus stop removals
🆘 Attended screening of the National Emergency Briefing film
☕ Held my regular surgery
I am appalled by the motion Reform has brought to the Scottish Parliament today, an abhorrent attempt to stir up anti-Muslim hatred, to make Muslim women feel othered, unwelcome and unsafe. It is designed to make people feel fearful and push people out of public space. We will not let that happen.
We took to the Chamber to challenge Reform on their racism and their misogyny last night. Lots of speeches from us, Labour and the SNP worth watching, but here's mine ⬇️
Living Rent are running a campaign on student housing in Edinburgh pop along to their website and have your say.
Write to your MSP asking them to support motion S7M-01495 'Welcoming Islamophobia Awareness Month': buff.ly/bmQV6oW
Ahead of the Members Business Debate that I will be speaking in tonight on Baby Loss Awareness Week, I spoke with families and charities outside parliament today. Great to see cross party support on this important matter 🕯️
Pretty upset about the proposals for Summerhall, not going to lie. @edinburghgreens.bsky.social
I love books and libraries!
I'm a big reader of fiction, though I'm increasingly a fan of littler books and novellas particularly now I'm an MSP 📚
Today, I'm joining thousands across Scotland enjoying a #WeeRead with the Scottish Library & Information Council.
Ahead of Islamophobia Awareness Month 2026, I've submitted a parliamentary motion recognising the month as an opportunity to raise awareness of the harms of Islamophobia and to showcase the positive contributions of Muslims in Scotland and across the UK.
2nd Surgery, this on at Fountainbridge Library, thank you to those constituents who came to see me, we'll do our very best to help.
As the Scottish Tories bring a debate to Holyrood on 'Consent for Jackdaw and Rosebank', I joined protesters outside the Scottish Parliament calling on the UK and Scottish governments to #StopRosebank.
Thank you to all other MSPs who have supported my parliamentary motion recognising the humanitarian crisis following Nepal’s 2026 floods.
You can read the full motion here: buff.ly/KsG34Fo
Last week in parliament, I asked Cabinet Secretary Gillian Martin MSP what engagement she has had with the government's Humanitarian Emergency Fund team about increasing support to countries affected by climate-induced emergencies, and whether any funds would be directed to Nepal.
This means opposing the climate-wrecking Rosebank oil field, as well as any further North Sea extraction, and backing a just transition.
I urge my fellow MSPs and MPs to join me in signing the Stop Rosebank pledge: buff.ly/pgEeJQj
I stand against the cuts to Textiles, Performance Costume, and Jewellery and Silversmithing at the Edinburgh College of Art, and join over 9000 petitioners demanding their reinstatement.
Add your signature to the list, and write to your MSPs.
