@stopcambo.bsky.socialTranslation: Big oil CEO threatens to throw his toys out of the pram if he doesn't get what he wants.
Andy Burnham must ignore the bullying of profiteering oil firms, and put ordinary people first.

@stopcambo.bsky.socialDelek Group, an Israeli energy giant known to operate in illegal settlements in the West Bank, is set to receive £200+ million if the Rosebank oil field is approved.
So we've sent a letter to Burnham - warning him that approving Rosebank could breach his new sanctions.

@werahobhouse.org.ukReposted by @stopcambo.bsky.socialAllowing drilling at the Rosebank oil field to go ahead would be a disgraceful betrayal of our climate commitments. That’s why I joined many of my cross-party colleagues in signing a letter calling for Burnham to reject it.

@stopcambo.bsky.socialUN: The Earth will exceed the 1.5° warming limit Andy Burnham: 🤪🤪🤪
@stopcambo.bsky.socialSource: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
@stopcambo.bsky.socialWhen we are already seeing the impacts of climate change, it would be deeply irresponsible for this government to knowingly worsen climate impacts by allowing new oil and gas projects.
@stopcambo.bsky.socialAndy Burnham must listen to scientists warnings and think back to those families who lost their homes to this summer’s wildfires, the UK farmers struggling to grow food in the drought, and the lives lost in the floods in Nepal – not the self-interested demands of oil companies.
@stopcambo.bsky.socialIn the most optimistic scenario, and assuming none of its gas is exported, Jackdaw would provide just 2% of UK gas demand over its ~10 year lifetime. After 50 years of drilling, the UK has burned most of its gas and the majority of what’s left in the basin is oil for export.
@stopcambo.bsky.socialREMINDER: The world already has far more oil and gas than can ever be safely burned if we are to limit warming. More North Sea drilling will do nothing to cut our energy bills, and make no meaningful difference to UK energy supply - but it will escalate climate harm.
@stopcambo.bsky.socialWe urgently need to phase out oil and gas drilling. At such a critical time, when the impacts of climate change are being felt here and around the world, the UK government must not knowingly breach its international climate commitments.
@stopcambo.bsky.social🚨 BREAKING: Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Robert Smith, Thom Yorke, Paris Paloma, and over 200 other musicians have added their voice urging Prime Minister @andyburnham.bsky.social to stop the enormous Rosebank oil field.

@stopcambo.bsky.socialBREAKING: urgent warning to @andyburnham.bsky.social 👇
@stopcambo.bsky.socialBREAKING 🚨: reports suggest Andy Burnham could approve new oil and gas fields, including Rosebank. Is he REALLY going to cave into the demands of the profiteering oil giants and Trump? Or is he going to stand with people facing soaring bills and a worsening climate crisis?
