We are off to Blashford Lakes tomorrow. We were birding down at Pennington Marsh, and we missed lots of the birds you saw, but I did see a Bearded Reedlings and 7 Spoonbill 👏 My personal list total was 61 species for the day.
Thanks so much for being part of our team! Still a few checklists to come in, but our international team saw 395 species. A great result!

It’s the 1st of October and here in Hampshire, UK, it’s a fresh autumnal morning. The first bird I heard was a Jackdaw calling as it flew over. The first bird I saw was a Woodpigeon on a neighbour’s roof. What was your 1st bird of the month?
Give us some cold weather and they are real little puffballs!😁 The American Robin is from the thrush family, like our Song Thrush, and is bigger with a more sleek shape
Thanks so much for allowing me to share my backyard birds with you all!
Really excited to have @casualbirderpod.bsky.social cover the blog today! I am tickled by how different and similar the backyard birds are between where I am and where she is. Check it out!
Ooh, do you think the little grebe had a second brood?

I've written Joe Harkness's obituary for the Guardian. I hope it pays good tribute to a wonderful man who was brave, honest and made the world a better place. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

@sarakatew.bsky.social I’ll email you 🙂
Does anybody want to short notice do a guest post on a niche bird blog and newsletter? I feel like I might not be able to get a bird of the day for a couple of days, and I only have one guest post in the bank. [email protected]. Blog in bio.
Congratulations on your lifers! We were on Vancouver Island a few years back and ended up going on whale watch tours 4 days in a row - I couldn’t get enough of them! Sounds like you are having an awesome time!
Nice! We’ve had a Jay show up in the neighbourhood over the past couple of days - I guess acorns are in season! We have a big oak on the green opposite. Hope there is a good crop this year.
Wow! Wish I was there! Were any of them lifers for you?
