Another workaround I considered was just swapping for youtube-nocookie domain, but it seems to only work with embeds on top of using a different path

Dear EU could you force YouTube to serve shorts from a different domain? So I can block it, without blocking all of yt?

@django.social.coop.ap.brid.gyOct 12, 2026, 11:12 PM

@jerome yes that is the expected behaviour, no questions about that.
What breaks my understanding is that follower-only posts are sent, rather than fetched. And since mastodon signs Fetch requests with an instance actor key. I don’t quite understand how a new follower should be able to see older […]

@MastodonEngineering A question about followers only posts and the window of visibility.

Bear with me as I lay out the scenario:
1. I recently sent a post to followers only.
2. A follower replied
3. A non-follower replied to the reply
4. Non-follower sent a friend request, which I approved
5 […]

@cheeaun
I was imagining something like save and tag modal similar to pocket (rip)

But the organizing effort vs potential for deletion would be annoying if I just saved something and went back for it sometime later and couldn’t find it!

@cheeaun this isn't standardized yet in ActivityPub API, and my initial modelling was as Adding objects to a private OrderedCollection. But @betula Is bringing federated tag-able bookmarks, so very curious to see how that goes!

@django.social.coop.ap.brid.gyOct 11, 2026, 4:43 AM

@cheeaun would be interesting to be able to organize bookmarks though!

@ohtheurbanity.bsky.social I suspect many of the folks complaining have more cars than their property can park so they have been treating street spots as theirs.

Deno is joining Cloudflare.

I wrote about Deno's decline a few months ago: I wish Deno would keep doing what it does best. I shared its vision, but I think it never got far because a startup was the one carrying it out. This decision makes me more sure of that.

It also settles something for me […]

If you publish any #OpenSource and you want people to use it, may I please implore you to test your README?

Can you actually follow the steps you've written down? Does it work if the user doesn't have the same development packages installed as you? […]

Does “spiritual successor” qualify when the original isn’t dead?

@django.social.coop.ap.brid.gyOct 7, 2026, 6:01 PM

@evanprodromou on the grant application site, it says:
“If you are a creator or publisher without a software platform, stop here! We have a separate project”

This could use more context: is it announced, can it be linked to, if not when should we check back, etc.

What sucks about Meta's properties is that even if you choose to opt out of using something; the fact that you're connected to someone who does opt-in, you're part of their dragnet now.

[Duolingo gripe] You found a piece! But it’s a duplicate. And because you already have x suits, every new piece you find will be a duplicate. So your only way to get a new piece is to get 5 more duplicates to trade in.
