I'll throw in a Tommy Douglas and Ed Broadbent type of Canadian as well.

The book cover sits at the center of the image. It shows a gothic window with pale yellow glass rimmed with white flowers, leaves, claws, branches, and strange hair? flower petal? crab-like monsters. Standing in front of the window is the silhouette of a man in a fedora. Towards the bottom right of the cover is the logo for this year's SPFBO Finalists. The background image is a close up of a sepia toned dogwood flower's center.

If the game is fun enough, big plot holes don’t matter so much. Books have nothing else to distract the reader. Unless they are romantic anyway.

@tbcart.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 9:12 PM

Yeah, for sure. The world before nukes in fallout had email, but no two factor authentication. Or any other form of data security for that matter. In fact, now that I think about it, didn’t the bomb fall in the 1950s?

@tbcart.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 8:01 PM

The funny thing is while this is completely true for books, if we remove this trope from narrative video games, they would almost all completely collapse. All you’d have left or Post-it notes stuck to someone’s desk.

@tbcart.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 7:47 PM

Crap! He’s on to us. Just like Colombo, the incoherent, mumbling, and falling asleep at his desk were clever, misdirection ploys that allowed him to see all of our secret tarrifs

Hard agree. Yeesh

Thanks so much to the judges at @fantasyfaction.bsky.social for a lovely set of reviews. Everyone should be so lucky as to start their day off like this. Also I love the reverse background on this graphic. #spfbo #spfboreviews #spfboxi

This contest is awesome and you should enter it now. Unless you are a reader, in which case you should use it to find Novella‘s you will love.

Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying

Guys. We're in a golden age for cinema & horror. Word of mouth is back. Gone are the days of a bad opening weekend dooming you to early VOD. Now audiences are listening to their friends & reviews and checking shit out because they hear it's good, and that makes it worth going out for. This is HUGE.
