@uk-soldierflies.bsky.socialJust had this sent in as a record of Little Snipefly (Chrysopilus asiliformis) - which is absolutely correct if you look closely and ignore the Marbled White! (📷 by Ian Joseph)

@uk-soldierflies.bsky.socialWould be great if you could add these sightings to iRecord, we're trying to keep track of Black Soldierfly being found out in the open. Do you think they could be breeding outdoors at your location, or more likely to have escaped from captive stock?
@timworfolk.bsky.socialReposted by @uk-soldierflies.bsky.socialA real beast of a fly and one that until today had somehow eluded me in the UK. Thanks to @johnwalterswildife.bsky.social for the location info.
Hornet Robberfly (Asilus crabroniformis)

#Diptera
@uk-soldierflies.bsky.socialAgreed - yellow on all abdominal segments + pale stigma mark on wing = C. nagatomii (rather than the darker C. tibialis)
@uk-soldierflies.bsky.socialGreat work by @speciesrecovery.bsky.social to monitor and conserve the Barred Green Colonel #soldierfly (Odontomyia hydroleon), one of the rarest #flies in the UK - thanks to @suillia.bsky.social and @judywebb.bsky.social for their expert advice
@uk-soldierflies.bsky.socialOne of our more spectacular soldierflies, increasingly being seen at inland locations
