In my latest for @biographic.bsky.social, I reported on a Southeast Asian mite that is spreading into parts of Europe, threatening honey bees. Last summer, a cargo ship carrying mite-infested bees was headed toward the U.S. when officials intercepted the swarm. biographic.com/a-mite-on-a-...

The maximum amount of plastic recorded in a sable shearwater chick was 67.4 grams, made up of 644 individual plastic fragments. That’s the equivalent of an average American man walking around with 9.86 kilograms--or 21.7 pounds--of plastic in his stomach.

In December 2025, I traveled to Patagonia for @biographic.bsky.social with photojournalist Kat Pyne to report on Patagonia's giant bumblebee. Matías Avramow, a journalist with @lanacioncom.bsky.social joined us in the field. A grant from the @pulitzercenter.org allowed us to make this trek!
