BREAKING: A federal court just granted a temporary restraining order in our case BLOCKING the Trump administration from using taxpayer money to illegally create and air the president's political propaganda ads on television. Big victory for CLC Action's clients, partners and the rule of law.

A typically excellent resource from my friends at @protectdemocracy.org, but here’s the most important part:

Triple check your registration, make a plan (and backup plan) to vote, then talk to other people about doing the same. If you have questions or see any issues, call or text: 866-OUR-VOTE.

After pressure from the DC Board of Elections and Election Protection organizations, a spokesperson for the Guard said that they are addressing this specific incident, and that National Guard members are "directed not to monitor or secure polling locations" www.washingtonsun.com/metro/nation...

This is a big deal. DC fed judge says that DOJ's pursuit (and use) of the state voter files is unlawful, on a bunch of different grounds. And effectively confirms that for the 18 states that submitted files willingly, whoever collected the files at DOJ Civil Rights committed federal crimes.

For more on the SAVE system (which is not the same thing as the SAVE Act, which Congress has not passed!), read here:

@jonathandiaz.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 4:24 PM

DHS's SAVE system regularly returns false positives, incorrectly identifying U.S. citizens as noncitizens. It is not a reliable tool for verifying voter eligibility, and states should not be using it for voter list maintenance without further follow up work to confirm the accuracy of the data.

@jonathandiaz.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 4:20 PM

This SCOTUS decision means states can use more unreliable and incomplete federal data sources to individually check voters' citizenship status. But the NVRA still prohibits mass voter registration purges during the 90 days before a federal election (we are 39 days away today).

Incredible. First Secretary Mullin claimed that DHS had identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll. Then DHS officials told a skeptical Nevada, no no no, that’s just people we flagged. Here are the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens. All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.

When the Department of Homeland Security sent Nevada a list of 185 names last month that it claimed identified noncitizens who had been improperly allowed to register to vote, state election officials got to work.
On Tuesday, the state sent a strongly worded rebuke to the federal government: Every single person on the list was a lawful citizen.
"As for the 185 individuals, our records indicate that they were citizens," Greg D. Ott, a deputy attorney general in Nevada, wrote, according to a copy of a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security officials obtained through open records requests.
"You have provided nothing of substance to suggest otherwise."Following the meeting, Ms. Vogt sent a clarifying email to Nevada officials. "I also wanted to be sure I clarified that we did not reduce the 15,903 to 185," she wrote. "We've manually reviewed some of the 15,903 and confirmed 185 are not U.S. Citizens."
Now, Nevada officials are saying even that 185 number is wrong. They also took issue with a letter D.H.S. sent them in early September, in which the agency reiterated its initial claims about nearly 16,000 noncitizens on the rolls and pressured state officials to review each case in a letter to Nevada officials in early September.

You may have heard that the Department of Justice plans to send as many as 1,000 election monitors to the polls this year. Safeguards already exist to protect voters, but Congress must still strengthen those rules to secure our elections.

Among other things, this means that, even if #SCOTUS *grants* a stay of Judge Talwani’s earlier injunction against the USPS rule (which seems increasingly unlikely), the rule would *still* not go into effect; the Court would have to freeze *this* injunction, too.

We just filed a major lawsuit against DHS for unconstitutionally retaliating against people for lawfully recording immigration agents in public. "This is a top-down policy of retaliation and it needs to be addressed as such," says CLC’s @danilang-votes.bsky.social.
