Indigenous leaders from across so-called Canada and South America came together this week in Ottawa to build a transnational movement to fight back against reckless fossil fuel expansion. Listen to their words and join them.
Told you so. First lawsuit filed against the Pacific Leak ahem Link tar sands bitumen pipeline and the unconstitutional attempt by @mark-carney.bsky.social to get it fasttracked.
Even for Cold Lake First Nation, this is too much.
1/8 🚨 NEW: We found a network of 30+ pro-oil front groups coordinating, tracking progress, and reporting back to their funders about how they are shaping energy conversations in Canada. It looks like that was supposed to stay under the radar, except they left their platform completely public 👇
Honoured to have worked side by side with leaders this week in Ottawa as we build a transnational movement to stop fossil fuel expansion.
We need a wide cross-sectional all ages and peoples movement. Here we go!
"The energy transition is underway, Canada is late to the party. It's time to put ourselves on the right side of history" - Senator Rosa Galvez joined by Senator Kim Pate, Ecuadorian MP Fernando Nantipia and Brazil's Juliano Medeiros.
International solidarity against fossil fuel expansion is being built energized right now in Ottawa, at the halls of so-called power. Indigenous leaders and parliamentarians from South America and Canada are uniting.
"Great day for Canada" says Prime Minister during announcement of the $35 billion expansion of LNG Canada.
Neglects to note that the giant steel modules will be made in China.
What gives @mark-carney.bsky.social?
Even more money off-shored. Bad enough it's 100% foreign-owned.
LNG Canada Phase 2 just reached final investment decision. Given the U.S.-Canada trade war, contractors bidding today must consider not only current prices but also potential tariffs, trade dispute escalations, supplier markups, and logistics costs.

Let's remember what made news earlier this year about LNG Canada and how clean its #LNG and operation actually are.
In 2025 LNG Canada, which only operated for 6 months of the year, flared more gas than ANY OTHER LNG TERMINAL IN THE WORLD.
Reporting here from @financialtimes.com :
“Real federal government leadership is: ratcheting up investments to accelerate clean energy projects, which will have better long-term returns & will not worsen extreme weather events while also respecting Indigenous rights."
Shell pre-empts the Prime Minister of Canada, announces expansion of LNG Canada overnight. TC Energy also announces doubling of Coastal Gaslink fracked gas pipeline capacity. More pollution, whale-injuring tanker traffic, flaring, conflicts, profits for foreign corps, fracking. Good for who?
For initial commentary see my LinkedIn Post at:
Emissions from Phase 2 - fracking, transportation , liquefaction, shipping, regasification and burning - is equivalent to nearly double all passenger cars in Canada.
What's a world leader to do after a summer of wildfires & heat waves? Announce the expansion of one of the most polluting #LNG facilities in the world.
On Tuesday @mark-carney.bsky.social will announce LNG Canada's Final Investment Decision to double its facility.
Welcome to 2 Mordors. #greensky
Seems misleading or at least misaligned for companies that are state owned when the state is getting off gas for climate reasons. But fine to sell it to other countries to continue polluting or will the Germans be saddled with expensive contracts they will have to cancel & pay penalties on?
Read the reaction from @stand.earth's @annabarford.bsky.social who has been mobilizing and campaigning to stop the Tilbury methane gas project for years because it makes no sense environmentally or financially (unless you are the CEO of @fortisbc.com).
How can one be Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Nature and be the face of the approval of this disastrous methane gas project close to one of Canada's major population centres, also the home to endangered orcas, threatened salmon.

Canada was for sale this week as @mark-carney.bsky.social welcomed the likes of Blackroc, Blackstone, ADNOC & Temasek to peruse the menu of Canadian infrastructure & accelerate me oil, gas & data center projects. Tax breaks, deregulation and public $$ ready to help.
We are fighting back. #bluesky
