In which Ed offers Stede his services in what is sure to be a totally professional capacity… #OFMDfanfic

Ed is rubbing his chin and regarding Stede thoughtfully. “Some aro-spectrum folks desire a bit of romance. Are you open with your partners about being aro?” He has shifted into Blackbeard mode, it seems.
“Things have never gotten that far. I’m not fully certain, and it’s mostly been situations where the expectations are ephemeral…”
“Hookups?”
“Well… yes. I wouldn’t mind companionship on a longer-term basis, but I haven’t known what to say or found the right person, I suppose.”
“You deserve that if you want it. And you don’t need to deny yourself dates or sex with men just because you lack experience,” Ed says decisively. “Not when you have me.”
“What—what do you mean?”
“I’m an expert on this stuff, remember?” Ed winks. “I’ll help you learn the ropes. Dating, sex, all of it.”
“You mean give me advice?” Stede asks. Surely Ed is not offering hands-on help.

Chapter 20! I have a few things in common with Ed. Our initials. Lots of tattoos. Thinking Stede is really neat. And I too cannot ice skate. (Ed at least tries. I'm to scared 🤣)

Summary:
Archie didn't really get the Zheng thing.
Yes, Zheng was objectively absolutely fucking gorgeous, all giant ponytails and delicately boned hands and such an air of authority Archie found herself acting out just to get Zheng to tell her off. And yes, she was intelligent and articulate and her sense of humour was sly and biting, jokes slipping right under your ribs, and you didn't realise how funny they'd been until those same ribs were aching from laughing.
But most of the time she was so stand-offish, and serious, and Archie wanted to know if she actually knew how to have fun.
Proper fun. Chaotic, shots-in-random-bars, boasting to your grandkids, embarrassing CCTV stills kind of fun.
Archie thought that Jim needed that sort of fun in their life and really couldn't imagine either Oluwande or Zheng bringing the chaos in the way that it needed to be brought.

So I did not meet him, but I managed to get my OFMD flag signed by Taika at the Wilderpeople screening. I wanted to share what he wrote because I think it shows how much he loves Ed, and therefore it is for all of us ❤️ That's the main point, but more details in the thread if you are interested!

Part of a navy blue flag with gold fleur-de-lis symbols. In gold marker is Taika's signature and the words, "To Chloe, Love from Ed AKA Blackbeard. XO"
