How was it?
It’s not just press freedom organizations like us. Everyone from Joe Rogan and Glenn Beck to Ted Cruz has had enough of Brendan Carr’s efforts to punish news that Donald Trump doesn’t like. They know that once Carr’s nonsense is normalized, the censorship won’t only be aimed at the left.

Some info on rates of LA City employees, including LAPD, living outside of the city: controller.lacity.gov/landings/202...
FWIW, LAPD is already largest chunk of LA's budget -- and they demand more money each year. Their pay rates are wildly high by comparison to departments in more expensive areas like, say, NYPD. LAPD officer is a six figure job you can get with a GED and fewer hours of training than a barber.
LA politics is WILD. Firefighter union wants a tax to fund firefighting. OK, typical public policy debate -- right? Then police union steps in to oppose as "an affordability issue." But, um ... over 80% of LAPD officers don't even live in the City of Los Angeles. Make it make sense. 🤔
Ghoulish how Trump crowd cheers at idea of millions of Americans dying. San Diego might be largest military population concentration in US. Over 100,000 on active duty there alone. Add LA and SD vets, families = maybe a million US military+dependents. So ... cheers for killing military families?
It was a pleasure to have @adamrose.bsky.social of the @freedom.press on the show to discuss media monopolies and the death of the free press.

I haven’t noticed it in every city, maybe it’s more a Los Angeles problem? But it’s certainly a problem here. I’d say about 50% of my rides use it at a level where it stays on my clothes for at least few hours.
Maybe worse than hotels? Smelly chemicals in rideshares! When I sit in a stinky Uber or Lyft (multiple times per month) it can take 4-5 times through wash before stench of chemical sprays are out of my clothes. It's worse for others. Lawsuit claims over 1-in-4 adults have a chemical sensitivity.
Almost as important as Trump's press ban is where he announced it: Truth Social, which he owns and uses to post official government business.
Now, he’s selling early access to those posts as a subscription service to anyone who pays $100k/month.

"The obvious reality is that Trump has blown through cultural and constitutional norms to become the least open president in modern history," FPF's @adamrose.bsky.social told @factcheck.afp.com.
I didn't learn em dashes from AI. AI learned em dashes from me! It's not just em dashes offering a false "tell." It's all sorts of classic writing techniques like negative parallelism. (See what I did there?) TBH, I'm so old I prefer double hyphens. They just get autocorrected to em dashes.
OK, now hear me out ...

Watch @adamrose.bsky.social explain why Trump banning @cnn.com, @ms.now, and @politico.com from the White House is incompatible with the Constitution.
“This, certainly, from an outside observer’s perspective, looks like retaliation for him committing acts of journalism,” FPF's @adamrose.bsky.social told @columjournreview.bsky.social about the detention of Carlitos Ricardo Parias.

Ellisons know a scary amount about you via Oracle. (Ever wonder, "what's their actual product"? It's YOU / your data!)
By taking over mass media, they can give America false fears, causing us to give up even more of our data & privacy.
Hahaha. Best thing on the internet today.
Some adults still think they can trade away everyone else's rights in some pointless effort to keep kids off the internet. Not only will kids win in the long run, they'll humble adults in the funniest ways to do it. @npr.org out here catching strays. 😭😭😭
"News is something that they don't want you to print, and all the rest is public relations." 🎯🎯🎯
Perfectly said, thank you @johncusack.bsky.social!!!
The hearing for CNN, MSNOW and Politico's lawsuit against Trump's White House media ban is happening right now. I'm trying to listen, but so many people are trying conference call line it's alternately a busy signal, drops out, or says it has ended. 🫠 Here's a live thread from someone listening:
