The Pacific Link pipeline moved another step forward last week, marking an expensive truce between Canada and Alberta, @drewanderson.bsky.social writes.

Despite the two governments agreeing it would be financed by the private sector, taxpayers were always going to foot the bill.

A leaked document obtained by @drewanderson.bsky.social has led to political backlash in Alberta over moves the doc says could raise electricity and gas prices. It's all to spur data centre and oil & gas growth. Read more, and see excerpts from the document, here: thenarwhal.ca/alberta-oppo...

According to a leaked document, the government of Alberta is considering a massive overhaul of natural gas pipelines in the province, and billions in spending, to help drive an AI data centre boom. #abpoli #cdnpoli

Alberta in 2024: shit, there’s a bunch of folks with Canadian flags up ahead. Alberta in 2026: sweet, there’s a bunch of folks with Canadian flags up ahead.

In July, I was invited to tour an operational coal mine in Alberta's foothills. A rare oppotunity, offered by a company that says it's trying to do better. But even if it strives to be better than its peers, can a coal mine be good? #abpoli thenarwhal.ca/alberta-rock...

Alberta changes legislation to allow farmers to destroy many wetlands

The province says farmers shouldn’t need permission to destroy temporary or seasonal wetlands. One advocate says that puts 94 per cent of prairie wetlands at risk

Alberta wants to expand coal mining in the Rockies, but data shows the province's existing mines have struggled to prevent incidents that impact local water and wildlife.
