🔍️ When was the last time you really stopped to look closely at nature?
🌳 Our local #Woodlands and green spaces are full of incredible textures and tiny details we often walk straight past. Why not take your camera or phone out and go on a texture hunt? Slow down, look closely and see what you find.
This #WorldMentalHealthDay create space for honest conversations and help the people around you feel genuinely heard. What better place to have that conversation than outdoors? 🌳
💚 Support starts with #BeingHeard and sometimes, a walk in the woods is the perfect place to start.
Great to see WT colleagues & volunteers in the SE smash their targets for recording ancient & veteran trees as part of the Lost Woods Project. Amazing that 20 volunteers have recorded 5,570+ old trees over a 314 sq km area from Lewes to Storrington. What a landscape that must be! 👉️ buff.ly/ZVtRBE8?
Huge congrats to the 2026 UK #TreeOfTheYear - The Bendy Tree in County Down, Northern Ireland - a true survivor #AgainstTheOdds. Thanks to supporters of Scotland’s trees, the Earlstoun Lightning Oak & the Balloch Castle Ash. You've inspired people to notice & care for special trees. buff.ly/hbGwREB
Fantastic shot! Always fascinating to watch the changes at this time of the year.
Walking is grand - but walking in the woods is even better!😆
Meet 'hazel gloves' - a rare fungus found in #ScotlandsRainforest that parasitises another fungus. It grows on old hazels but feeds on a glue-crust fungus that binds twigs. We're delighted to have recorded it at #Dunollie & #Crinan Woods. Spotted any🍄this #UKFungusDay? 👉️ buff.ly/RsVFMxF

🐿️ The squirrels will be pretty happy too.😀
The team of volunteer seed collectors we share with @treesforlife.bsky.social have gathered over 70 kg of nuts, from the Trossachs right up to the far north of Sutherland.👏

It has been a bumper year for hazelnuts on the west coast! Gentle winds and dry weather earlier in the year may have aided pollination, leading to a mast year for the trees. Great news for our work in Scotland's rainforest zone! 🧵 1/2
Your regular reminder to make friends with a tree 💚
Lovely walk at #Balmacaan last month, including some fungi ID and pine tea with oak and pine bach flower essences. Thanks to superstar volunteer Anna for leading 💫

🦡 It's #NationalBadgerDay and what better way to celebrate than with these lovely pics by George Kelsey.📸
Badgers are a wood's ruling clan, often occupying the same sett for generations and laying a network of well-trodden paths through the undergrowth. 🧵 1/2
It’s our pleasure. What a huge advocate for woods & trees you are. Massive thanks for all x
Please join the 8th Great Scottish Squirrel Survey this week!🐿️

Greys (which can carry the deadly squirrelpox virus), remain a serious threat. Your reports track range changes & focus action. #RedSquirrelAwarnessWeek @scotsquirrels.bsky.social
Great to see Ardtornish Estate using livestock grazing to restore #ScotlandsRainforest. It needs the right level of grazing to develop a varied woodland structure & create space for bryophytes & lichens. Being able to adjust grazing levels is important too. Advice ➡️ buff.ly/RvJxXmM buff.ly/txVfEwh
#ClimateAction is happening across the UK and #ScotlandsClimateWeek is a chance to celebrate efforts and invite everyone to get involved.
💪 There are lots of ways you can take action with #WoodlandTrust, here's how 👉️ buff.ly/Pa85mxk
We're nuts on trees! 🌰 🌳 🧡
October is a brilliant time to look down as well as up when you’re out walking. Scotland’s trees are dropping some fascinating nuts (and seeds) right now.
🍂 Next time you're out walking, keep an eye on the woodland floor! Let us know what you spot 👇️
Fife Tree Wardens have a networking event in St Andrews this Saturday.
Whether you're an experienced #TreeWarden or just want to find out what the network is all about, you're welcome.
Sharing some of the upland willows that Trust volunteers spotted on a recent trip to Dùn Coillich, Highland Perthsire. Annotated photos are meant to help with ID, but willows are famously variable and often hybridise. Share your willow finds with us ⤵️

We're chuffed to bits to see this 'monumental propagation effort' increase the population of the extremely rare Catacol whitebeam (not found anywhere else in the world). Well done @n-t-s.bsky.social & In Vitro Microplants. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2659402...
