This was such a fun activity -- big thanks for @ecocityaction.org for putting it together and luring these Seattle city dwellers into our neighboring parks
wood windows private outdoor space solid, durable, bespoke materials all things we are told are 'too expensive' and not possible in the US
The handout that @shirleyswirley.bsky.social handed out during yesterdays salmon event has some good information on it! What are some things we are already doing to help salmon populations?
In rivers - moving development out of the floodplain - removing levees and undoing channelization - adding wood - removing invasive species and planting native plants to restore streamside areas
It is importent to recognize that there are many many people currently working hard to restore salmon habitat and populations! We hope you can also join in even in little ways.
A few photos from the event hosted by @socklessinseattle.bsky.social @ecocityaction.org about 30 folks in attendance learning about Salmon!

Salmon goes flop after spawning and will be wildlife food in the PNW cycle of life
Big thanks to @ecocityaction.org for their educational field trip to the Cedar River today where we got to see salmon spawning. It was lovely to meet new folks and say hello to old friends while appreciating the salmon and learning more about our local habitats.
This was such a fab @ecocityaction.org event! One of my favorite moments was when we gathered in front of the Renton public library and collected a bunch of random people who were just wandering by and wanted to hear what @shirleyswirley.bsky.social was saying about salmon and watersheds 😂😍
Thank you to everyone who came to see the salmon with us today! We hope you learned a thing or two about the watershed and how you can help the salmon.
