"The PicoIDE will never work on the B&W G3" - Ian Scott, September 25, 2026 "The PicoIDE works fine on the B&W G3 with an OpenFirmware workaround" - Ian Scott, September 26, 2026

A Blue & White Apple Power Macintosh G3 in the classic Bondi Blue color, opened up with its guts out. Two PicoIDEs are plugged into it, one into the HDD interface, and the other one meant for the optical/ZIP drives.

I've switched over Infinite Mac's classic Mac emulation to recently-released and awesome Snow, which unblocks A/UX emulation: infinitemac.org?filter=aux

There's a behind-the-scenes blog post at blog.persistent.info/2026/09/infi... detailing this and other site updates.

Let's try to repair the bad serial port on this IBM PS/2 Model 50z. You're not going to want to miss the gut-wrenching pain from the hard drive noise in this thing! Maybe we can get a BlueSCSI working in it if the drive is fully toast. Today (Sep 21) at 1PM EDT. #IBMPS2 youtube.com/live/oHBryq4...

What's the issue? How can I help? A v2 should be able to max out the 10MB/sec bus on that G3 and I use it for bench testing quite a bit. If you want to open a github discussion or jump on our discord it'd be a bit easier than here - but we should be able to get you going!

Mad props to @museumjoe.bsky.social for the awesome BlueSCSI drive that has brought the club's traveling Macintosh Classic 2 back to life! 🥳

The BlueSCSI device is fitted into the former hard drive space, right underneath the CRT.A Macintosh Classic 2 boots into Mac OS on my messy workbench after more than a year out of commission.

Table secured! @jeffgeerling.com's NTP showcase inspired me, I think I'll do vintage Wi-Fi (BlueSCSI + PC cards) clients, connecting to an AirPort, going across 56k to get out to the internet.

With my vintage gear in storage on another continent, I'm piecing together something with what I have. 👍

I was successful imaging the drive but it required A LOT of meticulous work to get it working well enough to copy with my trusty #bluescsi

Today we're going to (try) and repair some things before VCF Midwest.

Also, I'm starting a month-long fundraiser to help a wonderful animal rescue organization, you can donate directly via the YouTube Giving function on the stream.

Going live in about 30 min! 🐶

Normal people don't like navigating github - so in our effort to ensure everyone can find what they need easily we've created a Downloads page for the latest firmware and BlueSCSI Toolbox - check it out bluescsi.com/downloads

It’s not a network share it’s a folder on the sd. And yes it’s available since 2022 or so and now on many platforms bluescsi.com/docs/Toolbox...

I’ll update the doc page you linked. Note 99.9% of the time you don’t need to do any with an ini file. Defaults are fine

The flashing X is key here - means it's trying to boot off the floppy but is failing. It might think a disk is stuck in there, they almost always need service. Likely need a recap of the logic and PSU. Try unplugging the floppy drive and just boot off the BlueSCSI to rule the floppy in/out.

BlueSCSI's been around for almost 6 years now - and we've had a lot of first and milestones in that time. If you're new to the project or just haven't been keeping up checkout bluescsi.com/milestones
