Title IX is supposed to protect college students from sexual violence. Yet 1 in 4 undergraduate women experience sexual violence.

I joined @demwomencaucus.bsky.social to call for an investigation into the Department of Education’s failure to enforce Title IX.

By gutting the Office for Civil Rights and rolling back Title IX protections, the Trump Administration’s Department of Education has failed Jane Doe, Kendall Francis and countless other students whose stories are not in the news. They deserve better.

I’m back in Henrico County today to announce the final 2026 Community Project Funding grants!

I delivered $250,000 to Richmond International Airport to replace deteriorating pavement and just over $1 million to @henricogovernment.bsky.social to extend county water services to 143 properties.

Clap if you’re against… the Trump Administration kicking 750,000 Americans off their health insurance.

Advancements in AI and robotics contain great potential for the future of our digital world, but also pose great risks if left unchecked. I joined Washington Post Live’s AI Edge Summit to discuss why Congress must act to harness the best in these technologies and place guardrails to avoid harms.

The House is in recess through the November midterms, but I’m still busy at work for Virginia’s Fourth District. Here’s what I’ve been up to.

America faces a cost-of-living crisis made worse by the actions of the Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans.

I joined @defendamericaaction.org, @barbarafavola.bsky.social and @clarkfordelegate.bsky.social to discuss the impact on Virginians and how we are fighting to lower costs.

In a government by, of and for the people, the right to vote is sacred. That’s why today I joined Reps. Morelle, Walkinshaw, Scott, Subramanyam and Vindman for a shadow hearing on the importance of securing our elections and protecting the integrity of American democracy.

As a state senator, I was proud to carry the legislation making Virginia the 38th and final state necessary to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in 2020. RATIFIED tells the story of how we did it. I joined the filmmaker and members of the team for a screening and discussion.

Watch the full episode to hear more about @ltgovhashmi.bsky.social’s unexpected thrill-seeking, the connection between academia and public service and being the nation’s first Muslim woman elected statewide.

For our next episode of Moments with McClellan, I was thrilled to catch up with my old friend and now Lieutenant Governor: @ltgovhashmi.bsky.social!

We discuss our time together in the Corner Caucus, how being a “mild-mannered English teacher” prepared her for public office and more.
