The Supreme Court is hearing "Suncor Energy v. Boulder County," which will determine whether communities can hold oil & gas companies financially responsible in state court for fueling climate change.

We're on Boulder's side with this one: polluters must pay!

In first half of this year alone, ~1.5 million acres of forest burned in #Indonesia. And with Super El Niño strengthening, the worst may be yet to come. Meanwhile, Indonesians risk their lives to fight fires and protect their homes and livelihoods. 💚

Wow. They said the quiet part out loud. Banks are focused on one thing only: profit. Even as they dump billions into fossil fuels, they’ve “accepted” we won't limit warming and will pivot to profiting off of future necessities, like air conditioning.

Scientists have found that forests might not actually take centuries to recover from deforestation, but rather mere decades.

But the regrowth of forests depends on biodiversity. Studies show animals return to the forest before trees do and they help the habitat recover 💚

Burns, dehydration, smoke inhalation – the fires in #Indonesia severely affect orangutans.

Mama Abu and her eight-month-old baby were saved last month from a palm oil concession. These concessions worsen fires, as the dried peatland underneath becomes highly flammable.

Consumer goods giant, Procter & Gamble, just announced its approach to protecting Human Rights Defenders. While the disclosure itself is somewhat limited, the process P&G engaged in – consulting with frontline Defenders and civil society orgs – sets an industry precedent.

Around 9,000 Indigenous activists & allies rallied in Toronto last week to demand justice for the Grassy Narrows First Nation community, who have experienced mercury poisoning since the 1960s. Today, wastewater from the Dryden Paper Mill is still impacting them. #FreeGrassy

In 2025, just 12 banks provided almost 40% of ALL fossil fuel funding from banks worldwide. That’s right, a dozen dirty banks are responsible for well over a third of the $906 billion poured into fossil fuels last year.

The food industry is dominated by just a handful of companies. The bigger these giants get, the more they are able to evade accountability, and destroy our planet NOT to feed society, but to fatten their own wallets.

Thank you @climatetown.bsky.social for covering such an important topic! The global demand for #PalmOil is driving deforestation in rainforests around the world. And in turn, forest destruction is contributing to the climate crisis.

The fires in Indonesia aren't an accident. They're a result of the slash-and-burn technique used to clear land for industrial palm oil plantations.

Since January, more than 895,657 hectares have been burned across Indonesia, according to data from Nusantara Atlas.

Fires in West Kalimantan are threatening orangutan habitat. One 657-hectare forest is home to 60 Bornean orangutans. It's unclear how many are left.

These fires are driven partially by industrial expansion for palm oil & timber, with companies using fire to clear lands.
