There are many animal welfare issues with dog breeding in Ireland. We want to see further action to protect these animals, and fewer dogs breeding under far better conditions in this country.
This is the importance that the Government puts on supporting households to move to cheaper renewables - a 2% increase. This is the direct impact of the changes to the carbon tax. A laughable increase in the retrofit budget.
In last years budget, SEAI was allocated €640 million to support home retrofit. Min Chambers has just announced that SEAI will get €654.5 million in 2027 for retrofit. A €14.5 million increase. A 2% increase.
That's it! 3 reviews, one extension of an existing relief, one (welcome) increase in an allowance. This tinkering around the edges does not show a Government serious about transitioning away from fossil fuels and making renewable energy easily available for all households across the country.
- A review of Cycle to Work scheme - A review of TaxSaver scheme - A review of Sustainable Aviation Fuel - An extension of the VRT relief for ecars - An increase in the micro-gen credit by €200
Having written off 4 years of carbon tax revenue (and no indication yet how that hole will be filled) the Tanaiste spends a section of his speech talking about how important energy transition is to his Government. But what the the measures he is actually announcing?
Tomorrow is budget day, if you haven’t emailed your TD’s yet asking them to Stop the Fare Hikes, now’s the time to do it!!
If we don’t stop this now, the price of the Bus, Luas, & Train will likely go up every single year

from accelerating renewables and energy efficiency to phasing out fossil fuels and avoiding new fossil fuel infrastructure. But we need the political will and drive to do this - which is sorely lacking from this Government, who in OCTOBER have still not published their 2026 Climate Action Plan.
💶 Irish-based subsidiaries of multinational investment companies hold €31.76bn in fossil fuel investments, with 91% invested in companies planning further fossil fuel expansion. The report sets out a clear range of measures to close this gap -
And there’s more; ⚡ Renewable electricity is projected to reach just 52–59% by 2030, despite the Government’s 80% target. 🏢 Data centres already account for over 20% of Ireland’s electricity use and could reach almost one-third by 2030.
The numbers in the new Ending Fossil Power report from @stopclimatechaosie.bsky.social should be a wake-up call. 🇮🇪 Ireland is legally committed to cutting emissions by 51% by 2030 - but even if every existing policy is delivered, the EPA projects we’ll achieve just 25%.
Thanks to AMLE for meeting with me yesterday and discussing the key asks from students in Budget 2027.
Every piece of Government advice is telling them to Stop the Fare Hikes

FAI senior management have brought us to this position. They need to consider their position.
“Today, the Parades Commission allowed a restricted parade down the Garvaghy Road, first time in almost 30 years. This is not a moment for triumphalism, but responsibility. We owe the next generation a broken cycle, not a repeated one.” 1/2
