I am happy to share this last work of my PhD research!
We uncover a novel role of cysteine protease RD19 in immunity. RD19 regulates RBOHD-generated ROS and is required for induced resistance responses.

Late summer is always a whirlwind of meetings and travel. My lab and I are now slowly settling back into our routine. Being back reminds me how #grateful I am for my team, institute, and campus, and for the privilege of doing science every day, especially at the bench.
Our Special Issue on receptor-ligand interactions is now online!
Thanks to all the authors for sharing their knowledge and views!
Huge thanks to @adsteinbrenner.bsky.social @veroglez.bsky.social and @isabelmonte.bsky.social for great collaboration: ) @theplantjournal.bsky.social for the venue!
Still one week to apply!
Interesting debate in the bioeconomy breakout session: how can local communities be engaged in biotechnological solutions? The goal should not be to convince them afterwards, but to involve them from the start. That requires a change in mindset and better research on communication among stakeholders
Day 2 of #EUAgri2040.
As a first-time participant, this has been quite an experience, full of learning and inspiring encounters!
As @epsoeurope.bsky.social representative, I'm grateful for the opportunity to share ideas from esteemed colleagues and help strengthen plant science in Europe π±
It was a pleasure to contribute to the breakout session on cropping systems, especially the discussions around crop protection and biotechnology. The remaining sessions are a bit further from my area of expertise, and I'm looking forward to listening, learning, and gaining new perspectives.
Iulia Blagu (farmer) to all stakeholders in the room, including us researchers:
"Your work is crucial. The challenges facing agriculture today make farming increasingly risky, reducing its financial attractiveness and making it harder to sustain the sector in the long term."
How to bridge science and practice? Living labs (enoll.org/living-labs/) as part of the answer #EUAgri2040
Interesting words from panel member Iulia Blagu (farmer): Innovation must be affordable, understandable, useful otherwise it has no value. We feel innovation arrives too late and it is too expensive.
