Mine are outside and turned but this last week as it does colder they died off and I didn't manage to salvage many as I was too late to realise - although I already had a crop. I would pick and put on a windowsill. #GardensHour
Hello #GardensHour! Been a busy week, still setting up the #allotment - all but one raised bed now built - and on to the fun stuff of planning fruit bushes.
Bit behind on my bulbs for indoors and pots, but hoping to catch up tomorrow.
Anyone know anything about lingonberries?
A new Aster providing some late colour in the garden #GardensHour 🌱
Thanks! #GardensHour
I’ve got outdoor toms ripening now, so I’d leave them as long as possible. Removing any flowers (which are now too late), any leaves shading the fruit & the growth point off the main stem should focus energy into ripening what’s there now rather than putting effort into more fruit #GardensHour
Only ten minutes left #GardensHour
#GardensHour First attempt at home grown pickled zingiber mioga. Looks very pretty, I wonder if it will taste as good as it looks.
After a slow start, the white Cosmos & red Dahlia are finally go! #GardensHour 🌱
I actually just found a dahlia tuber I clearly forgot to plant back in spring , still feels quite solid is there any chance of it still being viable next year? #GardensHour
The garden is having one last final florrah this autumn, making up for a crispy summer #GardensHour 🌱
#GardensHour I’ve only bought a few bulbs so far this Fall and will probably put them in planters once it gets a bit cooler. I planted lots in the garden beds last year so hopefully they’ll grow well again this Spring.
I think a lot of cosmos got fried this summer, mine did anyway, but if you give it a good feed and prune out any manky bits it should flower for a while yet #GardensHour
I usually plant all my bulbs in November (saves accidentally digging up all the daffs when planting the tulips). Last year I planted a bag of forgotten daffodil bulbs on Boxing Day when I discovered them in a draw - they were all fine! #GardensHour
Good evening all #GardensHour This week I've been enjoying the autumnal colour of the Acer whilst weeding between the leeks. We've had a little rain, but the ground is still to hard to plant bulbs. Thinking of using pots...🌱
A friend asked me to ask you about her tomatoes… will they ripen now, if not already? Pick them or leave them? #GardensHour
They’re both lovely! And still flowering - that’s fantastic! #GardensHour
Dahlia 'Taboo' finally bloomed for me, I didn't plant it until June which was pushing it but now I know it's a keeper. It's actually more of a dark fuchsia color. 'Giggles' colarette was one of my favorites, loaded with huge blooms and very bee friendly. Just starting to fade a bit.
Possibly… I’ve got a few redundant pots now. That’s not a bad shout! #GardensHour
Who knows, I've read that if we do get any real winter weather it will probably be of a late winter beast from the east type. Tulips can wait anyway, could you pot up some daffs now and plant them in when you can? #GardensHour
