I'm pretty confident that he just means he's going to send Eric up there.
Last month I spoke with @fedscoop.bsky.social about how OPM's updated USAJOBS API Terms of Service were confusing and inconsistent with OPEN Government Data Act and their data being in the public domain. Today, OPM clarified as a result of this feedback:
On my morning reading list! An excellent essay by my friend and fellow good troublemaker Julia Lane and her Google colleague Natasha Noy on the value of data tools for increasing the approachability and accessibility of underlying data. π§ͺ
So it turns out that the U.S. government changed the wording in the final version of the Kyoto Vision from "artificial intelligence" to "super intelligence" without securing the consent of the other countries.
The German government is now on the record confirming this to @sciencebusiness.net
True, tho most things done under this admin are not driven by Trump. The factions (of which Vought represents one) mostly try to keep Trump distracted with shiny objects. Agree, Trump is vindictive and also easily manipulated.
Which is why we see the movement towards alternative, non-peer reviewed forms of funding. Spoils.
This is a hugely underappreciated point!
Yeah. I consider this American oligarchy (some have likened it to the 19C robber barons, but that analogy falls short given huge government contracts going directly to these people along with their ability to govern in very direct ways). It's a Putin-esque clique.
π― and this isn't even remotely new.
I enjoyed reading this analysis. came up with a new term "proto-fascism" to describe this movement . I don't think we need new terms, but the concept is more accurate than invoking 20th C fascism. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Indeed. Though, I think we need to amplify the importance of Christian nationalism at play here because the fascist label, while convenient, fails to capture historical nuance and influence of both unfettered neoliberal capitalism and the New American oligarchy.
It's not fascism per se. It's that science is incompatible with Christian nationalism - The predominant motivation for RV's cultural mission.
A new False Claims Act case shows how the government is enforcing the rules on contractors
I just registered for an exciting American Statistical Association meeting, ICHPS this January in Annapolis!
"Meanwhile, the censusβs proposed rule has no scientific justification or participation by federal agencies with experience in this area. And the little rationale the rule does provide does not withstand scrutiny."
Bumping this for science! π§ͺ
Thank you!
