The fields are black, nothing more. No lifeless bodies lay at the base of hills as monuments to the power or folly of humankind. Most had no idea a war even began before they succumbed to the fires. There was little suffering, if that's any consolation.

There is no eloquence in my writing, no beauty, no flourish. My words are pitted hammers seeking nails, or a deserving face. I may pull my punches online and in person, but my stories tell the truth as I see it.
Intuition has been replaced with emotion, logic with empathy. The pendulum of human rationale has swung so far in one direction that it's restoring force will destroy nations.
A shimmering moonglade announced her apocalyptic presence. She is a weapon of war, a harbinger of death. Larger than kingdoms, more powerful than myth. For good or otherwise, she is the unbalanced end.
She inked a simple rune across the palimpsest. A slight squint of her eyes brought older, faded runes into focus, creating a layered bindrune far more significant than she understood at the time.
