#SilentSunday Industrial sunset from a recent visit to Plymouth. @slowwaysuk.bsky.social

View past a huge cylindrical tank and other industrial stuff, across the water to the centre of Plymouth. A partly cloudy sky has a thin strip of red at its base, reflected in the river between the towers and the town.

I've never seen a yardstone before! Alongside the canal at Elland, Halifax, Yorkshire.

A stone milepost except that it simply says 100 yds.

🌉 Reedham swing bridge is back in operation for larger boats after Network Rail completed major repairs ahead of schedule.
The work involved replacing the bridge’s central bearing.

Truly terrible to be able to walk less than 15 minutes for this. If only I had to drive here...

A photo of a beautiful almond croissant and a cup of tea on a cafe table. Also a brown paper bag which contains a freshly baked sourdough baguette for later, yum yum.

A host of tiny mushrooms growing underneath a step. Each mushroom head was about half a centimetre in height. Sowerby Bridge Station entrance.

One of the ornate gates into Piece Hall in #Halifax #Yorkshire for #ThursGate.

A highly detailed decorated gate in a high stone archway.A section of the gate to show more detail. Amongst other things it has a sheep carrying a piece of cloth, which is what Piece Hall is named for, originally being a market place for pieces of cloth.

A church door in Elland that I spotted whilst walking @slowwaysuk.bsky.social routes from Halifax to Elland to Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge.
#AdoorableThursday

A wide, green painted door in a stone wall, within a pointed arch. There are raised strips on the door similar to those in a church window.

🚌It's Bus Users UK's #CatchTheBusMonth. This year's theme? #MythBusting

❌Myth: “Buses are outdated”
✔️Truth: Modern buses are comfortable, accessible and packed with high-tech features

So why not get on board 🚌💚

A rivet rock benchmark at the side of Lythe Fell Road out in the remote wilds of the Forest of Bowland for #BenchmarkMonday

Detail from a fireplace surround at Borwick Hall in Lancashire.

Very old Fingerless #FingerpostFriday

A rusted metal post with a green, slightly wider, tall box on the top, which is very degraded by time and lichen. It is just possible to discern the words Public Footpath written vertically. In the background are fields and blue sky, with Ingleborough, one of Yorkshire's Three Peaks, on the horizon. The other side of the same post, with just a few letters visible, but I can't make out what they say.

In August this year, for 1 month, the Government made bus journeys free for children in England. Now, new figures show that the scheme enabled more than 14 million free child journeys. One bus service in the North East had 710% more child passengers than last summer. Our reaction 👇

Photo of Michael Solomon Williams with the quote, "As well as saving families money on millions of journeys, free child bus fares encouraged people to give the bus a try, inspiring a new generation of bus users. It's great to see this efficient, sustainable form of transport being given such a boost. But even with free fares, access to buses is not equal. One in seven people live in places without a decent bus service. The Government needs to do more to reconnect these transport deserts."
