I love books and libraries!

I'm a big reader of fiction, though I'm increasingly a fan of littler books and novellas particularly now I'm an MSP šŸ“š

Today, I'm joining thousands across Scotland enjoying a #WeeRead with the Scottish Library & Information Council.

Does everyone know that @caramckeegreens.bsky.social, one of my incredible fellow Greens MSPs, is a former librarian? Ever proud ā˜ŗļø

quite a few friends and colleagues have had ADHD/Au diagnoses over the past few years and I can't think of one example where this has not improved their mental health, professional and/or social lives. it would be more expensive not to know tbh

We took to the Chamber to challenge Reform on their racism and their misogyny last night. Lots of speeches from us, Labour and the SNP worth watching, but here's mine ā¬‡ļø

My favourite thing about the green parties is our radical democracy. The papers complaining about our members bringing things that matter to them to conference and having no qualms at all about rich folk in *some* parties just getting to dictate party policies is wild.

The proposals at Chapelcross will make it the largest data centre in the world. At its peak, it could be consuming the same amount of electricity as more than 2 million homes.

Chapelcross cannot be built. The Government and Dumfries & Galloway Council must reject it.

It was super to get a chance to meet with folks from @scotrewilding.bsky.social in fabulous outfits ahead of this evening’s debate.

We must move focus from emergency response to long term landscape scale prevention and building climate resilience, restoring ecosystems like rewetted peatlands, restored wetlands and mosaic habitats created by animals.

This evening at Holyrood my colleague Ariane Burgess is leading a debate on building Scotland’s resilience to wildfires and other climate shocks.

We must move away from short term thinking and work on the transition to lower bills, and energy and climate security.

@caramckeegreens.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 3:02 PM

This is of course a devolved matter, although of course use of Scotland's resources should be devolved to Scotland.

@caramckeegreens.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 3:02 PM

Right now the Conservatives are leading a debate at Holyrood saying we should support Rosebank and Jackdaw. We should not. We need to focus on a transition away from oil and gas, improving insulation and sustainable heating systems instead of pretending nothing is wrong and continuing to drill.

Pictured are anti Rosebank campaigners and Scottish Green MSPs outside the Scottish Parliament today. Cara is on the far right (not a sentence you’ll hear often).

It really gives the game away when the anti trans orgs are calling the election of the neo nazi party in Germany a "glimmer of hope."

A screenshot of an online article headline from "Inspecting Gender" by Genspect. The main heading reads: "Germany: A Glimmer of Hope for Sex Realists?" Below the title, the summary text asks: "Is the victory of the AfD in Germany a dark day for democracy or a glimmer of hope for sex realists? By David Allison." The bottom metadata displays the Genspect logo, "5 hours ago," and a "Listen" audio option button. In the top right corner, there is a teal "Subscribe" button alongside a circular profile avatar.

The Scottish Parliament backed our motion to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel. Yet, there are still companies with links to Israeli war crimes in Palestine getting taxpayer contracts in Scotland. It's time to fully implement the boycott and cancel these contracts.

Thrilled that Scotland’s newest train station is in Balgray and will give folks nearby more opportunities to use public transport. We need to get our public transport systems fit for purpose for 2026, and that means more buses, more train stations, and better integration of ticketing. šŸ›¤ļø šŸš† 😃

S7M-01351: Celebrating the Opening of Balgray Train Station

That the Parliament celebrates the opening of Balgray, Scotland’s newest rail station; recognises the successful partnership between the Scottish Government, East Renfrewshire Council and other key partners that delivered the station through the Glasgow City Region City Deal; notes that the station promotes accessibility and environmental sustainability by offering step-free access, lifts, secure cycle storage and a car park with electric vehicle charging points; celebrates that residents of Barrhead and nearby communities will now have access to better transport links with Glasgow and the wider rail network; notes that the opening of the station will improve access to jobs, education, leisure and attractions such as Dams to Darnley Country Park, and acknowledges the cultural, economic and environmental benefits of rail travel and the importance of improved public transport links in tackling the climate crisis and achieving Net Zero targets.
