Imagine a Scotland where nature is reawakened. Rewilding is a simple idea: let's work with nature instead of against it.

The evidence in @rewildingbritain.org.uk’s latest report is clear: healthy, varied ecosystems act as natural buffers against fire, building long-term resilience. Nature recovery isn't the whole answer, but it's a vital line of defence we can put in place today.

Read the evidence. 👇

What good are Scotland's world-leading climate ambitions if we don’t deliver them? We took to the streets outside Holyrood last week, to demand action on climate shocks – including nature-based solutions.

Parliamentary debates often happen with little public attention. We made sure the conversation reached beyond the chamber and onto the streets. Big thanks to Rosebank's stilt walkers and everyone who joined us to get climate resilience noticed.

Yesterday, as MSPs prepared to debate Scotland’s resilience to climate shocks, we gathered outside The Scottish Parliament and spoke to members of the public about what climate shocks could mean for all of us – and how restoring nature can be part of the response. 🧵 1/2

The woman on the left wearing a red, textured, multi-layered skirt and gold jacket holds a sign written in red ink that reads: "WHY ARE WE ALL THE WAY UP HERE?" The woman on the right wearing a long, shiny blue skirt and a blue jacket holds a sign in green ink that reads: "BECAUSE SCOTLAND'S CLIMATE AMBITION NEEDS TO RISE" with an arrow pointing upward.

Let’s fill the pavement outside Parliament tomorrow, make our voices heard and show every MSP walking through those doors that Scotland’s communities deserve better than a future of fire, flood and drought.

"SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT" and "30 SEPTEMBER, 3-5 pm". At the bottom, a group of smiling people of various ages are pictured standing together against, some with their arms raised in celebration. In the centre, two women hold up a white "Rewilding Nation" sign.

This Wednesday, MSPs will debate how Scotland can build resilience to climate shocks – including the role nature recovery can play. We’ll be outside Parliament before the debate, making sure the urgency of preparing for climate shocks is visible outside as well as inside Holyrood. 🧵3/4

An event poster on a solid yellow background. At the top, bold black text reads "THIS WEDNESDAY!" Below, a hand drawn in a comic-book style holds up a blue placard. Written on the placard in white, handwritten-style text is "Prepare Scotland for CLIMATE SHOCKS". In the bottom corners are details for the event: - A black map pin icon next to the text "SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT". - A black calendar icon next to the text "30 SEPTEMBER 3-5 pm". In the background at the bottom is a black-and-white stylised graphic of the Scottish Parliament building.

Miliband said the coming El Niño (a natural climate event driving up global temperatures) could intensify climate shocks, threatening food and water security, communities and economies. Against that threat, preparedness is everything – and now Scotland has a chance to get serious about it. 🧵2/4

'The countries fit for the future will be those that see climate and nature as intrinsic to economic and national security.'

So said Ed Miliband to global foreign ministers last week, sharing findings from a national security assessment on nature loss.

Nature is our ally in dealing with climate shocks, says MSP Ariane Burgess in a new piece for @scotnational.bsky.social – but delays, scarce funding and a fear of difficult conversations continue to hold us back.

🔥 Fire. 🌊 Flood. 🥵 Drought. Next Wednesday, 30 Sept, MSPs will debate Scotland's resilience to climate shocks – including the role nature recovery can play.

Let's make this debate count. Join us outside the Scottish Parliament to demand action on climate shocks:

Now we need MSPs to hear why nature recovery is vital to tackling wildfires, droughts and floods.

Will you write to your MSP and ask them to back rewilding as part of Scotland's response to climate shocks?

Next Wed, 30 Sept, MSPs will debate Ariane’s motion on Scotland's resilience to climate shocks, including the proposed Summit. The motion has already secured cross-party support. A huge thank to @ariane-burgess.bsky.social for helping build political momentum behind this call. 🧵2/3

Earlier this month, MSP @Ariane Burgess put our proposal for a national Landscape Resilience Summit directly to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice – and we've just moved one step closer. 🧵1/3

Scotland needs funding systems that work for nature, not against it. Our new report, Wilder Horizons: overhauling the systems that fund our landscapes, sets out where we could start.

Scotland is redesigning how public money supports farming and land management. But in our latest blog, Sara King of @rewildingbritain.org.uk argues that the proposed system risks sidelining large-scale nature recovery.

Yesterday our Deputy Convenor told the Rural Affairs Committee the key flaw in Scotland’s Rural Support Plan: a lack of large-scale recovery pilots allowing farmers, crofters & land managers to collaborate across landscapes. 🌾🌱🌳 Without pilots today, how will we know what works in 5 years? 🧵 2/3

@scotrewilding.bsky.socialSep 10, 2026, 10:52 AM

"We are moving laughably slow, but it's not a very funny joke." 🚨⏳ Biodiversity loss is a threat to national security & food supply. We need urgent action using every tool we’ve got. So why spend hundreds of millions of public money without testing what works for nature at scale? 🧵 1/3
