Watching Hurricane Hunter recon flights is just the 2026 version of playing Snake on a flip phone. 🐍
As Isaias approaches landfall, switching back and forth between different radars will be a must. 📡 Press and hold anywhere on the map and WF will automatically switch to th closest radar. If a radar goes down, it will be excluded from the press-and-hold functionality!
🚨🌀Web App Update🖥️🚨 ✈️Hurricane Hunters: Follow reconnaissance flights into Hurricane Isaias with aircraft observations and dropsonde soundings. (Enable live data in the Layers menu) 🌀WeatherNext 2 & 3: Google DeepMind's WeatherNext 2 & 3 tropical cyclone ensembles are now available on the Models tab!
You vs. the guy she told you not to worry about
Time to whip out some @wxfront.bsky.social 🤓
Can eye help you? 🌀🌀 Hurricane Nolo and Super Typhoon Choi-Wan are creating quite the spectacle right now in the West Pacific. 🧐
Watch those low pressure centers scatter. 🔀 Hurricane Rachel's future track is pretty straightforward through the end of the week, but where she goes next weekend is anyone's best guess. 🤔 Impacts will be minimal regardless of her path, but it's a cool visualization of forecast uncertainty! 🌀
That’s one heck of a ridge in the western US. 🥵 And check out those cold air intrusions in the northeast. 📉
WeatherFront is your one-stop shop for weather data on a mobile or desktop device. Track today's severe weather & flash flood threat across the Desert Southwest and Southern Plains. 🌪️🌧️🌬️
Significant rainfall and "numerous flash floods" are expected this week. The suite of MRMS hydrology products provides ELITE visualizations for scenarios like this. MRMS --> Hydrology --> Streamflow: CREST
There are 4 Moderate Flooding Risks this week, but not all flooding is created equal. TODAY-TUE: Wet ground can't handle more water - it's already saturated. WED-THU: Dry ground can't absorb water - it's hard as a rock. Different root causes, but both could lead to significant flooding impacts!
The Nor'easter has developed quite a swirl! Water vapor imagery illustrates the dry air (yellow) wrapping all the way around the central circulation and being pulled into the backside of the storm.
There's something surreal about a satellite image like this. Mostly sunny skies over Hawaii don't adequately capture the dangerous wind & waves on the ground. Yet, the sprawling major hurricane centered 300 miles off the the coast of the Big Island is a vivid reminder of Mother Nature's power.
Super Typhoon Surigae is about halfway between Okinawa and the Diato islands. The core of Surigae is expected to stay ~200 miles SE of Tokyo as it moves NE over the next few days. Kitadaito Airport is gusting to 59 mph, which is quite impressive given that it's 75 miles away from the eyewall!
The "eye" of this #noreaster (that is headed for #NYC and #Boston) is currently about 282 miles east of #Sandbridge VA (Southern #VirginiaBeach) [according to @wxfront.bsky.social).
For the first time since 4/20… There are no SPC severe weather risk areas across the US today. 🚫⛈️ A sure sign of Fall. 🍂
Friday thoughts: ✅The atmosphere is incredible ✅GOES satellites are a gift ✅It's IMPOSSIBLE to be productive when there's so much eye candy to look at 🤩
Excessive or Impressive? 🤔 We're using quad-pane to track Surigae, Nolo, Odalys, Polo, and the Nor'Easter all at the same time tonight! 🌀🌧💨🌊
🌧A TROPICAL CONNECTION🌀 There's a Flash Flood Emergency in Mora, NM & a powerful hurricane off the south coast of Mexico. Despite being nearly 1500 miles apart, they're both fueled by the same plume of anomalous tropical moisture.
