They are all far too serious on this series of Celebrity Traitors. Last year's generational chemistry just isn't there
Grey seal and Atlantic salmon have been absolutely done over here! Nation of bores
I am in no mood for logic or common sense, for keeping a sense of proportion, for pursuing post-traumatic growth.
Instead, like centuries’ worth of people before me, I am pinning my desperate hopes on the turn of the annum.

And one that stems from empire and colonialism no less. Can't be dealing with it!
Some truly awful things have happened in my life this year, and the experience has illustrated just how oppressive British culture can be. The expectation that pain should be borne quietly is so entrenched that it's seen as a universal moral imperative, when it's actually just a cultural norm

This was not the masked crew...but a local protest
The people of Hull were ignoring them and enjoying the sun and neighbouring free arts festival. We are many, they are few.
I spoke to some "protestors" in Hull on Saturday and had absolutely the same impression. I was struck by how few in number they were, and how dejected and desperate they seemed about their fortunes- the speaker spent a lot of time whining about beef with other far-right groups.
80 year-olds with pro-Palestine signs: arrested as terrorists. Greens planning to block a road, to highlight an existential crisis: sent down for years. Masked far-right thugs blocking roads and ports, using intimidation, obstruction & threatening behaviour: no arrests. The real two-tier policing.
Really not sure this is a helpful intervention from MIND. The problem we face is not mental health charities "failing to acknowledge risk." It is the chronic underfunding of mental health services that recklessly endangers both patients with SMI and the public. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...
The online discourse around the Clancy case has revealed just how poor the public understanding of the realities of severe and enduring mental illness remains and how easily mental health is absorped into the culture wars.
