Follow along with #ClimateCentral to explore climate change's effect on Hurricane Isaias⤵️ www.climatecentral.org/tropical-cyc...

@climatecentral.orgOct 9, 2026, 10:34 PM

🚨Human-caused climate change made the record-warm waters fueling Isaias up to 600 times more likely. The waters where it formed were up to 800 times more likely.

These exceptionally warm waters can significantly boost a storm’s potential strength.

🌀Hurricane Isaias rapidly intensified into a Category 3 storm Friday, fueled by exceptionally warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico. Landfall is forecast along the Gulf Coast between Alabama and Florida later today, October 9.

☕ A warming world is brewing trouble.

Climate change added more coffee-harming heat to all 25 major coffee-growing countries during 2021–2025.

Wildfires aren’t just about the flames. Across the U.S., human-caused climate change has fueled more fire activity and:

🔥Increased fire weather
📈Expanded burned areas

More fire can mean more smoke — and greater health risks. Read via #ClimateCentral: www.climatecentral.org/climate-matt...

The storm’s most significant impacts include 40–60 MPH coastal wind gusts, 2–4 inches of rain, and breaking waves ranging between 6–17 feet along the Massachusetts coast.

🌊 A strengthening nor’easter is bringing heavy rain, strong winds, dangerous surf, and coastal flooding along the U.S. East Coast this weekend! Coastal flooding has already affected portions of Virginia and North Carolina, with ocean overwash closing a miles-long stretch of road on the Outer Banks.

🌡️Humid heat can be dangerous to human health.

High humidity makes it harder for sweat to evaporate, reducing the body’s ability to cool itself and increasing the risk of heat-related illness.

Millions of people across India and Pakistan are forecast to experience dangerous humid heat linked to climate change on September 24: 📍 India: Around 560 million people — nearly 40% of the population 📍 Pakistan: Around 140 million people

@climatecentral.orgSep 24, 2026, 11:00 PM

🚨Both and Pakistan have experienced sustained dangerous humid heat this month, much of which would not have occurred without human-caused climate change. Today, dangerous humid heat driven by climate change is peaking in the region — with around 700 million people forecast to feel it⬇️
