Worth acknowledging that it is @tomclonan.bsky.social, Senator and former Irish Army Captain, pointing out the misinformation that is being pushed by the government on the Triple Lock. Where are the critical voices in our media? This should be common knowledge.

@pbresnihan.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 12:46 PM

And to be clear, the govnt is waging this misinformation campaign.

'A number of glaring myths & untruths are repeatedly being peddled in a public narrative designed to manufacture consent among the Irish people for ending our de-facto neutral status.'

The Workers' AI Counter Summit hosted by the Digital and Techworker Alliance (DATA) is taking place today and tomorrow in Dublin. An important convergence and hopefully the first of many.

My takeaway from this is that constant fear mongering around subsea cables + Ireland's deepening integration with UK/EU naval operations in the Atlantic carries the real risk of sparking a conflict that Irish people have no interest in being involved in.

Some good news but now we need to see the rest of the Gaza students with confirmed places granted visas.

Another example of Martin turning legitimate, public action into a 'threat to democracy'.

"There doesn't need to be a picket, and I'm saying to all concerned, parliamentary democracy matters, and we shouldn't be just lightly chipping away at it."

... the EPP resolution insists the EU should track down, boycott and cut off any EU funding or affiliation with bodies which use “the vocabulary of fundamental rights, inclusion, diversity, intercultural dialogue, anti-racism and the fight against discrimination.” How very Trump-like.

Ghost estate data centres, for spooky season 👻

Check out the full interview with @pbresnihan.bsky.social and Patrick Brodie about their recent report: 'How we all pay for Big Tech: The social, economic, and environmental costs costs of data centres in Ireland': podfollow.com/for-techs-sa...

She actually has a more recent one on her substack which specifically discusses yesterday's EPP resolution (which was voted for by F/FG MEPs).

After the US, the EU is moving in a similar, worrying direction re 'internal threats'.

'European democracy is hollowed out rather than reinforced when an entire religious or ethnic minority and its civil society are regarded as permanently suspect.'

We rightly hear about democratic backsliding in the US but this is rarely covered in MSM when it comes to the EU.

Yesterday, F/FG MEPs voted for this paranoid EPP resolution attacking Muslim civil society organisations, including @enareurope.bsky.social.

Patrick Brodie and @pbresnihan.bsky.social came on the pod to hash out how we should define data centres and therefore determine their place in society following their report: 'How we all pay for Big Tech'.

@foeireland.bsky.social have been doing great work for years now to stop the toxic expansion of data centres in Ireland. November 7th is the first national demo calling for a moratorium. Remember, data centres don't bring long term jobs, development or 'digital innovation'.

@pbresnihan.bsky.socialOct 8, 2026, 7:53 AM

When we talk about data centre expansion representing an 'irrational allocation of resources' (@iliasalami.bsky.social), this is what we are talking about.

When there are severe deficits in social infrastructure, construction capacity should not be funnelled into speculative AI.

'Money for learning not killing.' Heartening to see mass movements across Spain and France objecting to worsening material conditions that name the catastrophic policies and class interests responsible, rather than scapegoating the vulnerable.

@pbresnihan.bsky.socialOct 6, 2026, 1:45 PM

Don't read Fintan O'Toole who relies on lazy, anti-republican tropes and superficial 'two-sides = analysis'.

Read Eamonn McCann who knows what he is talking about and explains why Drumcree is about the deeply sectarian Orange Order, not 'two sides'.

Good that the @irishexaminer.bsky.social ran with an image of Micheál Martin telling the UN that 'the situation in Gaza remains an affront to all that is decent.'

It is within his power to intervene with Jim O’Callaghan, to grant the Gaza students' visas.

@pbresnihan.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 8:52 PM

There is nothing new here. EU and member state politicians have been pushing militarisation openly and aggressively for months.

The question is: where are the progressive forces opposing this catastrophic trajectory?

Pat Leahy (and other anti-republican, southern commentators) are so detached from a powerful new all-island political culture - growing through the Irish language & music revival, the Connolly campaign, housing & environment movements, and Palestine solidarity.
