Ukraine blows up Russian data centres and immediately and mysteriously online talk about Germany’s Far Right AfD virtually disappears. Stop Putin you stop the Far Right.
Back in February, I led a debate in Westminster Hall on Russian interference in our politics.
I’m as clear then as I am now: files must be released. The British public deserve to know who was in hoc to the Kremlin and the damage it has caused.
The change we have seen from Andy Burnham as Prime Minister is refreshing.
Open and transparent government has been missing for years. Our new Labour Prime Minister is speaking with clarity on Brexit and Russian interference when we need it most.
I love social media sometimes: you get MPs saying they want to get closer to the EU (because we want to get a deal that works), and then someone who is pro-closer to EU has a pop for not saying it 100% the way they want 🤷♂️
Hi Vera - Treaty obligations state that all new members must at some point adopt the Euro. But the Treaty states that to do so all member states must be a member of the Exchange Rate Mechanism for at least two years. And you know what? The ERM is voluntary. So we don’t join that: we don’t have Euro.
I’m really hoping to speak in the parliamentary debate on this petition on Monday, but I know it may be oversubscribed and I might not get the chance.
Either way, I’ll keep making the case for South Norfolk and a closer relationship with Europe.
The petition is titled: “Apply to Rejoin the EU as soon as possible to increase growth in the UK”. Rebuilding our relationship with Europe matters for jobs, growth and opportunities. I want to see a more ambitious approach to our European neighbours.
🇬🇧 🇪🇺 South Norfolk is making its voice heard! This heatmap shows that South Norfolk has one of the highest concentrations of signatures of all 650 constituencies on the petition calling for the UK to rejoin the EU. That’s a message Westminster should listen to.
Do puns make you feel ruff, Kevin?
Food security, water security & environmental protection must go hand in hand. At the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association Senior Leaders Breakfast, I spoke about the need for DEFRA to take a more joined-up approach & balance competing priorities to secure British farming.
🌱 My first ever go with a scythe! I joined Chris and volunteers at Queen’s Hills Community Orchard, cutting grass for next year’s wildflower meadow and mulching trees. Fancy getting involved? Let me know. Pulling together, we grow something amazing! 🌼
As Attorney General, we stand firmly behind the International Criminal Court and its vital work in holding perpetrators of international crimes to account. I disagree with the sanctions on the Court. I will continue to protect international law and defend its independence.
I’ve been working with local Labour councillor Deborah Sacks to raise these concerns with South Norfolk District Council. The council must now do the right thing and reject this proposal. Growth matters, but it must be in the right place and benefit our communities.
I’m especially concerned about the proposed site’s proximity to Marston Marshes and the wider Yare Valley. Heat, noise, lighting and associated infrastructure could all affect these precious wildlife habitats. Our natural environment must not be an afterthought.
Residents have legitimate concerns about the visual impact, huge energy demands and environmental consequences, including waste heat and its potential effects on local temperatures. We need proper answers, not promises that leave communities carrying the risk.
I’m not anti data centre. Norwich Research Park and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Trust will need digital infrastructure in future. Protecting UK data sovereignty matters too. But essential national infrastructure is not the same as a mega site with no guaranteed direct UK benefit.
I’ve been awaiting the final planning application so I can review the full documents, not just the artist’s impression circulated before formal planning was submitted. A project of this scale deserves proper scrutiny, not a decision based on a picture.
Keswick deserves better than a mega data centre that puts our community and environment at risk. At my street surgery in Keswick Hall, residents raised serious concerns about the proposed development. I share them. 🧵
Funding for grassroots sport is back!

British farmers deserve a level playing field.
I’ve been clear that banning Brazilian meat imports would protect our domestic market while also sending a positive signal to the EU as we rebuild closer trading relationships.
