Arthur Rostron was a true Bolton hero. I remember reading about him at school. Find out about his incredible rescue ⬇️

Measures such as these embolden authoritarian regimes the world over.

Pleased to see the following joint statement from every other G7 nation, plus Denmark & the Netherlands which reaffirms their commitment to the ICC and criticises the American sanctions.

🧵Pathetic undermining of the rules-based, international order by the Trump administration. The US doesn’t recognise the ICC, yet feels emboldened to impose financial sanctions which impede its role as the ultimate arbiter of international law.

Particularly pleased to see the renewed focus on hybrid threats and regional growth. Berlin remains one of our strongest allies. Long may that continue.

Well done Mark! 👏🏻

The Tories’ position on pensions is falling apart.

A Shadow Cabinet member wants to replace the State Pension as we know it with something that offers 'dramatically less'.

Only Labour will protect a rising state pension while building a new National Care Service.

Bit rich with the Russian stamp on that envelope, coming from the Tories who were more than happy to accept sizeable donations from Lubov Chernukhin, Alexander Temerko etc. Unforgivable and unforgettable.

Cutting jobs at the Environment Agency after a summer of wildfires. Which would never raise the £700m Kemi claims. How much do the Tories think EA staff get paid? All to subsidise childcare for six figure earners. Utterly delusional

Thank you to the dedicated civil servants who have produced a very strong blueprint, and to every frontline officer involved in enforcement activity. If you have information about illegality on the high street, please pass it on to the police.

I want to see a new ‘Economic Crime Fighting Fund’ for law enforcement agencies, which would reinvest seized criminal cash straight back into the agencies that recovered them. We should be making criminals pay for a stronger, more efficient and more strategic policing response.

I’ll be working with the Government, including Security Minister Dan Jarvis, to make sure nobody, whether that’s people traffickers, drug dealers or Russian oligarchs, can clean and stash their dirty cash here in the UK.

@philbrickellmp.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 1:01 PM

This is what tackling dirty money looks like on the ground. Organised crime gangs hiding in plain sight on our high streets affect communities right here in Bolton West.

vapes being sold, including to children. Across Bolton, the operation led to 19 arrests, 12 warrants, two cannabis farms uncovered, and vehicles and criminal assets seized.

But I wanted to see how this strategy will make a real difference on our streets. So a few days later I joined Greater Manchester Police and Bolton Council's Trading Standards in Horwich as part of Operation Avro, targeting rogue businesses after constituents raised concerns with me about illicit

As Chair of the APPG on Anti-Corruption and Responsible Tax, I welcome the real ambition here: £550 million of investment over three years, 500 new officers across law enforcement and justice, a new national Financial Intelligence Service, and stronger closure powers for dodgy shops.

Two weeks ago, I was at the National Crime Agency for the launch of the Government's new Anti-Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Strategy, where I met with NCA Director General Graeme Biggar CBE.

Thank you to the Bolton News for highlighting the Civil Service pension issue raised by many of my constituents.

If you’re a Bolton West constituent facing this issue, please get in touch with me.

due to us losing collaboration with our European Partners. We will be stronger working together and I look forward to seeing the future proposals.

@philbrickellmp.bsky.socialSep 29, 2026, 3:26 PM

Crucially, pensioners who only receive the state pension will not need to pay for their care. Finally, as someone who studied under the ERASMUS scheme, I know how vital our links with Europe are. Since Brexit our control over immigration weakened and Andy was correct in saying that this was partly

One of the most exciting announcements by Andy Burnham was that a National Care Service will be formed which will take some of the pressures off the NHS. Tied to this will be changes to triple lock pensions from 2030, though they will continue to rise every year in line with prices or by 2.5%.
