How did the drugs work for you? How did they make it possible to eat less? Was it cutting food noise, or just feeling like you're satisfied with less, or different foods? (Those are the 2 most common things I hear.)
Congratulations! And I didn't know intake forms had that choice, but I talk to people all the time who now fall into that category.
From here on in, though, we won't be able to tell whether those measures work. Obesity will start ticking down because of the new drugs. Those drugs work WAY better than taxes, labels etc. They're starting to go generic, and everyone will have access to them fairly soon.
Here's an @economist.com piece about the measures different countries are taking to curtail junk food. Taxes, labeling, ad restrictions, etc.
And right in the piece is a chart showing how well it's working.

It was great fun to be on the @publichealthpod.bsky.social talking about lettuce and what's wrong with it.
Thanks for inviting me!

A leaf of iceberg on a sandwich can add a satisfying crunch to your lunch—but does it offer much of anything else?
@tamarhaspel.bsky.social details the environmental impacts of growing lettuce and its limited nutritional benefits.
Yes! Trump Administration announces RECORD payments to farmers! An amazing $13.8B in handouts, and that doesn’t even include billions more in bailouts!
It’s so great to see socialism in action.
GREAT ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE NEWS!!! (Not a typo!) The Indonesian government has cancelled its insane Food and Energy Estates project, which would have deforested a land mass the size of Maryland. Amazing work by @mightyearth.org. A massive victory for the planet.
Aw cmon Alex. We know that meals that have turkey and mashed potatoes and cookies are different from meals that have eggs and bananas and cheese in many, many ways. You even said that was part of the point!
You are making my point for me! Science 101: if you want to find out the impact of a variable, change ONLY THAT VARIABLE. If you change a whole bunch of things, it doesn't mean you can generalize across all UPFs, it means the study doesn't tell you about degree of processing.
I think I've been clear that my issue is that there are many differences between the 2 meals. I also called the energy density issue a detail. So you can engage with my actual criticism, or argue with something I didn't say. Your choice.
Right. But there are a zillion differences in those 2 meals besides degree of processing. Why not UPF vs non-UPF: whole wheat bread, jam, peanut butter, milk, potato chips, etc, where the foods are very similar except degree of processing.
Yes. It's not a lot. But it sure is kloodgy, and is not the same as actually controlling for energy density.
