Rushing wind from air
Rushing knives from wind
Rushing fire from my bones
Rushing water from flames
Seasons don’t exist for a man rushing for time

Another fruitful Regulator Bookshop excursion: I've only just read an ARC of the astounding Music Against the Night by Yiyun Li, but the material book is beautiful and I wanted to cherish it and read it a second time on paper And I’ve been a Jasper Fforde loyalist since The Eyre Affair (2001)!

Running errands on Ninth Street, and in the spirit of birthday-week briefly wandered into The Regulator. And without fail, there were both anticipated finds and unexpected treasures. If you’re new to Durham, NC - definitely pay a visit to our local independent bookstore, The Regulator Bookshop!
Tom was the kindest and most supportive senior colleague I could have asked for - our paths crossed for over a decade.
I have only just learned the sad news that Tom Conley passed away earlier this year
Tom was a remarkable scholar of early modern French literature, film & visual studies. A deeply learned and profoundly original thinker, Tom was also a kind and generous
My career trajectory in brief: I introduce myself to Cathy after her keynote, she then livetweets my talk, @chronicle.com then does a story on me, my editor-to-be sees it (via @chowleen.bsky.social), starts following my blog, year & 1/2 later messages me out of blue to publish UF yr before I defend…
Wow! What an impact @cathyndavidson.bsky.social & Hastac have had these 25 years! I did one of my first talks about planning to do my dissertation in comics at Hastac in Dec 2011 at UMich & that launched me into a lot of conversations I hadn't anticipated! Grateful...
