Absolutely delightful Roman period socketed-terminal in the form of a Ram's head - possibly with a piggy snout 🤔🧐? Found as part of a sacred spring deposit on Ynys Mon/Anglesey & now on display in the brilliant Oriel Môn (Anglesey Museum) until next Easter - essential viewing! 👌 📷 My own
Remember the rules
OK folks, I'm noting these orders down as fast as I can ;-)
The menhir of St-Eden near Porznéjen in Plouescat (Finistère) is 6m tall and has 2 large depressions on one side caused by natural weathering but 30 cupules on one face are man made. It is on the coast and this c.1909 card by Neurdein has 2 men looking out to sea.
#FindsFriday heading north this morning to the magical island of Ynys Mon/Anglesey to continue the search around Llyn Cerrig Bach votive lake with Op Nightingale & good friends & colleagues @richardosgood.bsky.social & @archaedelle.bsky.social 🧙
One of my favourite surviving Ministry of Works signs, thankfully still on display at Cadw's Strata Florida abbey, Ceredigion Nothing like plain talking..😮😅 📷 My own, last weekend
Great thanks, 1:46
Bore da 👋
A brilliant site. I did an extended write-up of the record a couple of years back. Definitely needs a new survey..
Now that I am safely back down out of the Rhinog mountains here are some more views of the Craig y Dinas hillfort. While considered to be Iron Age it reminded me a lot of small Early Medieval defended sites. The 2m wide wall is impressive as is the passage entrance. #HillfortsWednesday
Just passing the Craig y Dinas hillfort snd settlement on it’s rocky outcrop in Dyffryn Ardudwy with Moelfre in shadow behind it #HillfortsWednesday
Looks like a fabulous spot 👌
I recently surveyed the stunning Sheep Hill fort in Dumbartonshire. Complete with faced stone walls, rock cut entranceways, platforms galore. Easily one of my top 5 hillforts #HillfortsWednesday

Looks slightly too unusual for someone to have carved it more recently, who was trying to make it look old 🤔🧐
A curious Celtic conundrum for #HillfortsWednesday
A male mustachioed head said to have been found at Maiden Castle hillfort in #Dorset
Is it Iron Age? 🤔

#HillfortsWednesday High up on the mighty Ysgyryd fawr/Skirrid ridge hillfort yesterday with @archaedelle.bsky.social & Kate Churchill 🤩
The long ridge-top hillfort has remnants of surviving gateway stonework & commands unparalleled views across the hills & valleys of Monmouthshire

It's scheduled & everything 👍
