I assume most Covid cases go unreported these days. For most of us (if vaccinated), you get mildly sick, maybe run an OTC self-test, dose up with tylenol and cough drops, stay home for a few days, and done. Maybe a phone call to a doctor to ask about Paxlovid, maybe not.

This is a very good overview of an important decision. The 9th Circuit found that the PREP act preempts claims of an employee that had to test and mask because he had a religious exemption from a vaccine mandate and was claiming damages from it.

Just a reminder that in many democracies, high courts have a lot more judges that usually sit in partial panels.
I disagree, categorically, that adding additional justices, even in a "tit-for-tat" way, is a "race to the bottom." I think having a great many *more* judges is actually good for democracy, representation, ethics, and limiting the importance and power of any individual judge. Furthermore...
Calls for expanding #SCOTUS are entirely (and increasingly) understandable.
But as today's "One First" explains, there are at least four difficult questions that those who support expansion should have to answer—especially as compared to other possible reforms:
BREAKING: A complaint has been filed with the California Bar against White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia, citing Popular Information’s reporting, for “the Unauthorized Practice of Law and for Holding Herself Out as Entitled to Practice Law.”

About to teach my intro to infectious diseases in public health law where I talk about history (decline in deaths from infectious diseases, bumps, why), rise of public health law, types of pathogens, and medical tools to fight them - vaccines, antibiotics, sanitation, vector control. Wish me luck.
RFK Jr announces a new initiative to kick people off their healthcare coverage but insists it's no big deal because "they don't even know they were enrolled in anything. They never make a claim."

Using fear of having an autistic child to keep vaccine rates low.
The attack on autistic kids has to to end.
Some of MAHA have moved on from the MMR to … Covid vaccines. Reminds me of when the antivaccine crowd just dropped the thimerosal claims after we stopped using the preservative but autism still existed.
