Muahaha

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 4:59 PM

I feel the idea that god is powered and shaped by Human belief would have exploded Lewis’s head.

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 3:59 PM

Well I could use one of the existing lifts but pi know what, I think I’ll wait for this new one I’ve heard so much about.

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 3:38 PM

Yeah i think so. Dressed up in a variety of ways.

Lovelies! Just in time for the weekend, here is a shiny new episode of Starship Alexandria in which @aptshadow.bsky.social and I discuss Helen of Wyndhorn. Listen to find out if this is a graphic novel I could actually understand! starshipalexandria.com/episode-18-h...

Is that just a planescale thing? (I know it’s all the same cosmos theoretically but obvs more a concern of that setting).

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 2:56 PM

Are they in FR/D&D? That feels like they’re riffing heavily off Pratchett now? I don’t ever recall that from back in the day?

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 2:52 PM

I mean given that just regular dudes can be deified in FR (Cyric, and even Vecna I think?) and then make with the spell granting, it should be a bit easier if you’re starting from archdevil.

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 2:32 PM

you can certainly assert that ‘gods’ aren’t a special category of being but just powerful extraplanars that can grant favours, no different to archdevils. (In fact in recent editions I think that’s kind of true - can’t you be a priest of asmodeus now?)

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 2:03 PM

The nearest I find i can get is ‘yes there are gods but I don’t actually worship or follow any’ which I’ve done with a D&D character.

I haven’t had any on Bluesky for ages mostly because I restricted my messages to people I follow. All the bot contacts were coming via unsolicited chat requests.

Every adaptation seems to be ‘Mr Bennet is just this genial lovable font of wisdom’ when the original book plainly thinks he’s an irresponsible tit.

@aptshadow.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 9:43 AM

Um… are you going to run with the further lyrics of that song at 5000? And then just generally get down tonight at 7500?

I have promised to ‘do a little dance’ when we hit 2500 sign-ups, and we’re 33 away from that, so… I don’t think doing this on the con floor would be logistically possible. Hmm. www.kickstarter.com/projects/cos...

What would 80s UK slang for marijuana have been?

The feeling when you’re thoroughly enjoying the latest incredible novel by your first-ever podcast guest (@premeemohamed.com !),
a book which has been notably blurbed by your latest wonderful podcast guest (@aptshadow.bsky.social!!)

I’m a bit out of frame on the left; only one bespectacled eye is visible, along with half my grin, but I’m holding my copy of Wickhills by Premee which has a blurb from Adrian Tchaikovsky along the bottom: “A triumph of the imagination.”

Fascinating to come across an archaeology of your own past misreadings in an editor's comments. I'm still discovering words I've obviously read and misunderstood the context of, and then deployed in that miscontext in my own writing. Today "cornering" to mean "jinking about in the air".
