#MushroomMonday A cluster of tiny Common Bird's Nest Fungi (Crucibulum laeve) found in Greater Manchester whilst out with NW Fungus Group. Each nest contains 10-15 tiny "eggs" which are the spores packages and are released by splashes of heavy rain.

Towns in England at risk of running out of water until 2027.

Over one trillion litres of water a year lost to leaks.

No new reservoirs since privatisation. Record customer bills. Polluted rivers.

No national planning. No national grid.

Crisis deepened by privatisation.

Can you revive a zombie river? Our cities are full of rivers that have been buried in concrete after industrial pollution filled them with filth. But there's a global drive to bring them back: to "daylight" these forgotten rivers. I had a lovely day out in Sheffield today, seeing it actually happen.

For #wildflowerhour this week it’s Scarlet Pimpernel. Apparently ‘pimpernel’ is derived from old French pimprenele and the Latin piperinella meaning ‘little pepper’. Referring to the small, round, pepper-like seed capsules

We've seen this in our garden. And once a Misumena vatia crab spider caught a Honeybee & disabled it and a German Wasp flew in, cut the bee's abdomen off and flew off with it, leaving the spider with the bee's head.

Nice finds! Still very dry in Norfolk too - especially in the east. We struggled to find many fungi in damp soil in "wet" woodland in north-east Norfolk yesterday on our Norfolk Fungus Study Group foray.

Fungi meeting today in Northaw Great Wood, Herts. Very very dry but we managed a few. Yesterday was #fungusday so pics of a few. Names in Alt. #fungi. Herts seems to have lacked much rain so far, things might improve if some decent rain comes before the end of the season.

Lovely to see Rooting Shank Hymenopellis radicata along Damp Riverside margin at NT Hardcastle Crags. Described as Tall and Graceful, caps become sticky when moist, Silky when dry. Ivory Bonnet Atheniella flavoalba loves damp Mossy environments too! #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mycology

Lovely to see them. So dry here in Norfolk, especially in the eastern half of the county and soils are still too dry, even in "wet woodland", with fungi scarce and often much smaller than usual.

Finally! Someone who wants to change the laws to stop the lies, misinformation & propaganda from our media & press.

The only problem is, that same media & press are doing their utmost to smear & discredit that person: @zackpolanski.bsky.social.

And #Labour, as usual, turns a blind eye to it all. 🙄

Yet again, Labour showing itself to be the single most racist and hostile anti-asylum government in living memory. It can take decades, if ever, for refugees to be safe returning to countries they fled, and that's when those countries are stable which Syria is not

Should we give Burnham's Labour the benefit of the doubt?
Very worrying that his top advisers are connected to PFI advocacy, the private water industry and private equity lobbying 👇

This would be economically illiterate & environmentally disastrous - and makes us less secure: undermining efforts to reduce energy bills by reducing dependence on gas, increasing vulnerability to global dictators, driving climate emissions & knee capping a market that’s just beginning to take off
