In honor of @birderk.bsky.social's plover saving and hoping she can beat her boss by the deadline, I'm unveiling my first snowy ploverling of Baby Bird Season 2026, I call it "Plover Against The World." 🪶

A young snowy plcoer chick stands alone as the sun stars to set and is washed over by the orange hug. They look alone but their parent and sibling were nearby. This was inside an enclosure and as the suns et they began to run out, but this individual baby stopped and pivoted, seeing what must have been a scary world out there.

Plovers are some of the cutest of the shorebirds. These are Semipalmated Plovers and they charm me every time. They make these really cute little squeaky sounds.

We were crabbing (good haul for a couple hours- two dozen) and this gull was hanging around hoping for some spent bait, which eventually was provided. And those egrets up the creek. #WorldShorebirdsDay
