A photograph of a groundhog sitting upright on the step of our wooden back deck (it’s just above the ground; it’s really nice, and animals come sit on it all the time), back to the viewer, with ears back against their head, and their hips and knees slightly tilted, so one knee is higher than the other (like a person sitting cross-legged, one knee tilted up). The groundhog’s tail is curled to the left. There are two levels on the grey wooden deck; the groundhog is sitting on the lower level, right at the edge, with their tail curved around their left foot. Beyond them is a mown lawn.
There are two speech bubbles coming from the groundhog; the top one says “FUUU-UUUUUUUUUUUUUU… *gasp*”, and the lower one, to the right, says “…UUUCK.”.
We have groundhogs: we call one of their burrows “groundhog hill”, but we know of at least two (the other is “Mt. Dave”, made from clearing the foundation for my studio).
This groundhog climbed up on the deck, and sat there for at least 15 minutes, looking from side to side occasionally. It looked like a passenger waiting for a train that never came. Eventually, it slumped a bit, which is when I got this photo. :)
